BOISE, Idaho - Had the Jazz not matched the four-year, $14.8-million offer sheet he signed with Oklahoma City this summer, C.J. Miles would be going through his first training camp with the Thunder, with P.J. Carlesimo as his coach and Kevin Durant as his teammate.

If nothing else, it was worth coming to the Jazz's open practice Thursday night at Boise State just to watch C.J. Miles and Ronnie Brewer play point guard against one another. With Brevin Knight sidelined by a back strain and Gerry McNamara recovering from a hard fall Wednesday, the Jazz were down to only two points guards in Deron Williams and Ronnie Price. When those two needed a

I looked at C.J. Miles during the Jazz's annual media day and couldn't help but think that this guy could be entering his senior year at the University of Texas. Do you think he would help the Longhorns this season? Miles jumped to the NBA straight from high school -- a decision that looked a little shaky when he slipped to the second round of the 2005 draft. Remember what happened?

As the Jazz were deciding last month whether to keep restricted free-agent guard C.J. Miles, Greg Miller put Kevin O'Connor, Randy Rigby and Bob Hyde on hold while he called his father in the hospital to ask his opinion.

We've been describing it as a four-year deal worth $15 million in the paper, but C.J. Miles' contract officially is worth $14.8 million, according to a source. That includes a team option for the fourth year. Miles will make $3.7 million each season. --Ross Siler

The moment I uttered the words "2009-10" and "luxury tax" in asking a question about the Jazz's decision Friday to match Oklahoma City's offer sheet to C.J. Miles, general manager Kevin O'Connor said he was done talking about next season. The way O'Connor sees it, the Jazz will bring back 13 players from a team that went 54-28 last season and was four victories shy of finishing with the

C.J. Miles will stay in Utah after the Jazz matched the deal offered by Oklahoma City to the restricted free agent. On July 18, Oklahoma City offered a four-year deal worth about $15 million to Miles, who will be entering his fourth NBA season. Under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, the Jazz had a week to match that offer and said Friday they would do so. The 6-foot-6 guard was the 34th player...

Filed under: Clippers , Jazz , SuperSonics , Warriors C.J. Miles -- who has consistently clashed with Jerry Sloan -- almost saw his way out of Utah by signing a four-year, $15 million offer sheet with the Un-Sonics. The Jazz were not expected to match, as Deron Williams ' max extension has landed the luxury tax right into Larry Miller's lap for the 2009-10 season. But after some minor maneuvering...
