When the Lakers brought Derek Fisher back to LA, it was with the expectation that he would not only improve them at the point guard position from a talent standpoint- not exactly the tallest of orders, given he was replacing Smush Parker- but help add to and balance the leadership of (a then unhappy) Kobe Bryant in the locker room and on the floor. Fisher wasn't a player still needing to earn Kobe's...

Utah, let's see if we can have a little more class than we did when Derek Fisher came here to play against the Jazz. When David Cook comes here on the "American Idol" tour this summer, we need to show the world that we respect others' feelings instead of booing everyone.

Some folks were surprised to even see Jordan Farmar in a Laker uni come late-October, given how the offseason included the Lakers drafting Javaris Crittenton out of Georgia Tech, then signing Derek Fisher when family matters led to his release from the Utah Jazz. Both developments, along with Farmar's mighty struggles in the 2007 playoffs (albeit against Steve Nash, who often makes many a point guard...

As most of you know, Coby Karl overcame cancer twice before making it to the Lakers. That victory is one he shares with his dad, who also beat the disease. Chris Tomasson of The Rocky Mountain News wrote a touching profile of their battle. It includes words of praise for the rook from Derek Fisher, who certainly knows how this situation can affect a family. AK

Dude's just a rock. As always, he's able to deliver a great perspective on the season, where they were a year ago, where they are now, and where they're going. "It is exciting to think about what we can accomplish going forward, but the emotions are mixed in regards to this season. We grew a lot and accomplished a lot, but that gap is still there between [us] and being the best. I'm sure that's where...

Here's a quick look at the contract status of the current Lakers. The biggest issues, as I mentioned last night, are Odom, Vujacic and Turiaf. Who should be back: Derek Fisher: Signed through 2009-10 season Kobe Bryant: On-board for next...

Our long national nightmare is over. The Lakers have lost. Kobe has been exposed. Phil Jackson gets to spend the next few months thinking deep thoughts (if Derek Fisher flops in the off-season and no ref is around to call it, has Fisher really flopped'). Tuesday night was a good one for the NBA, and [...]

LOS ANGELES (AP) As purple-and-gold streamers rained down, Lamar Odom shook his head in approval, Derek Fisher caressed the game ball against his chest and Kobe Bryant clapped his hands before striding from the floor. "I love L.A." blared through the speakers and "Not In Our House!" flashed on the scoreboard. Read the full story

Roughly a year after Derek Fisher gave a live interview on TNT describing his daughter’s battle with eye cancer, the impact of that unscripted moment is still being felt.

by Brian P. Foley , The College Baseball Blog I have come to the conclusion that I will back up Tim Donaghy's statements that the NBA is fixed to have certain teams in the next round of the playoffs. How do you rationalize the non-call in the San Antonio-LA series where Derek Fisher clearly fouls Brent Barry shooting a three point shot? Ok, maybe the official missed that call but there are many other...
