The Sixers hastened their post-AI turnaround by getting Elton Brand. But their long-term hopes might actually hinge on another player, says Ian Thomsen.

Year in and year out, the Clippers mismanagement dooms them to eternal failure. This year, while most teams other than Memphis are out improving their teams, the Clippers got dumped by Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, signed Baron Davis, Marcus...

More on The Brand Value from James Beale Recently I posted “The Brand Value“, a column that details the expected impact of Elton Brand on the 76ers in 2008-09. In this post I linked to an article by James Beale of the Philadelphia City Paper. Beale’s article - “Better Experts Needed” - details how wrong the [...]

As I said yesterday, Marcus Camby is not the offensive player the Clippers needed after the departure of Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, the team’s two best offensive players. Plus, at age 33, he probably doesn’t have too many years of peak performance left in the tank. But that doesn’t mean I am 100 percent [...]

Coming back from a long MVN hiatus, picking one single Clippers topic from this summer for my first post back in action was a bit challenging. Marc Stein of ESPN.com has a nice column up with some interesting nuggets, opinions and bits of information. Here’s a quick summary, broken into three parts like the article is: LA Clippers Stein points out that LA basically traded Corey Maggette and Elton Brand for Baron Davis and Marcus Camby. That actually looks like a pretty good [...]

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 76er’s GM Ed Stefanski met with the agent of restricted free agent Andre Iguodala on Tuesday. After signing Elton Brand, the only thing Ed has left to do is secure Iguodala and possibly Lou Williams as well. It’s certainly looking like both will come back to Philly, as almost no [...]

SHORT OF ACTUALLY having his name signed to a new contract, the Sixers got the best news possible in their quest to make sure restricted free-agent swingman Andre Iguodala stays in Philadelphia to team with the newly signed Elton Brand.

Filed under: Hawks , NBA Gossip , NBA Rumors With the Clippers' acquisition of Marcus Camby , and the Sixers' signing of Elton Brand , the market has dried up very quickly for the services of Josh Smith . There aren't really any teams left that can pay Smith what he wants (except for Memphis, who doesn't seem interested in competing anymore), and with the Hawks being able to match any offer, it appears...

It looks like the Lakers will not be the only LA contenders for the playoffs. The Clippers signed the All-Star Baron Davis for five years and $65 million. If Elton Brand and Corey Maggette decide to stay, even though they both opted their contracts to become free agents, the Clippers will be a dominant team in the Western Conference. Davis battled injuries and still managed to play in all 82 games...
