Anthony Johnson poses during Orlando Magic Media Day 2008. Photo by Fernando Medina, NBAE/Getty Images Happy 34th birthday to Magic backup point guard Anthony Johnson. Coincidentally, 34 is the number of minutes Johnson would spend on the bench each night under ideal circumstances. Jameer Nelson can handle those minutes, can't he? Many happy returns, A.J. May Stan Van Gundy not run you into the ground...

Jason Williams, Apparently Calling it a Day I remember when the Magic were actively pursuing Williams to back-up Jameer Nelson, but eventually passed on him to sign Anthony Johnson instead. I guess Otis Smith and company knew what they were doing, because Williams retired out of the blue today. Weird.

Floor Burn Tournament: Finals Jameer Nelson may have been eliminated in the first round of Hoops Addict's Floor Burn Tournament, but that doesn't mean Magic fans shouldn't vote for the scrappiest NBA player. It's come down to Jason Maxiell of the Detroit Pistons and Shane Battier of the Houston Rockets. Vote now!

Filed under: Magic , Eastern Every NBA team has a captain, but I guarantee no one takes the role more seriously than Jameer Nelson . For the third year in a row, Nelson flew practically the entire Magic roster to his hometown of Philadelphia for "Building Magic," a week-long team-building retreat he puts on with zero input from team management. In addition to planning training sessions and nights...

The state of Florida received some magic this morning when it Hurricane Fay was downgraded to a tropical storm, meaning that rain will still flood many towns, but the wind will not be devastating. As I write this post, the storm is actually just south of Orlando, where Jameer Nelson plays his professional ball. [...]

In case you've been under a rock, HoopsAddict is hosting a FloorBurn tournament for glue guys. Go check it out . I submitted Brandon Bass, and he should win pretty easily before getting walloped by Ronny Turiaf. Oh, and make sure to vote against Jameer Nelson, because he hates everything good in this world and kills kittens and things.

Carlos Arroyo has signed a 3-year deal to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. When the Magic signed Anthony Johnson to backup Jameer Nelson at the point, it was only a matter of time before Carlito was on his way. Personally, I’ve found it difficult to watch Arroyo play; his erratic style has always been [...]

This summer, 3QC will take a look back on each Magic player's 2007-2008 season. The first nine posts will evaluate, on an individual basis and in alphabetical order, the players who played in at least 20% of the team's total minutes; the final post will briefly evaluate the five players who appeared in less than 20% of the team's minutes. Today, our focus is Jameer Nelson. Jameer Nelson Jameer Nelson...
