After watching a dozen NBA players opt to sign with European teams this summer - - including Americans Josh Childress, Earl Boykins and Jannero Pargo - - it's been interesting to see how basketball has been impacted by the currency market. With a strong euro and weak dollar, it only makes sense for players to explore Europe as option. What I haven't seen written, though, is whether these

Being an NBA player ... what does that mean to you? One of the first words out of almost anybody's mouth would be "money." I mean, you make the NBA, you make money. (Some rookies would swear it is not true, but nobody believes them.) But it just keeps happening. Josh Childress, Jannero Pargo, Carlos Arroyo, Carlos Delfino, Earl Boykins, Juan Carlos Navarro, Bostjan Nachbar, Nenad Krstic, Primoz Brezec,...

On July 23, NBA player Josh Childress looked at an offer to play in Greece for three years and $20 million guaranteed, glanced back at his bosses with the Atlanta Hawks to see how they'd respond, then plunged ahead.

The Atlanta Hawks signed free-agent guard Ronald "Flip" Murray on Wednesday. Murray, a six-year veteran, can play both guard spots. He joins Maurice Evans as free-agent additions to the backcourt after the Hawks lost sixth man Josh Childress, who stunned the team last month by signing with Greek powerhouse Olympiakos. The 6-foot-3 Murray was released by Detroit last season before signing with Indiana....

Josh Childress started the trend last month, forsaking the NBA and signing a three-year deal worth about $20 million after taxes with the Greek basketball club Olympiakos.

Give us your tired, your poor … THE EUROS GOT EARL BOYKINS? David Stern, you worried yet? Seems as if Josh Childress leaving for Greece last month was a black swan. (All those Toronto Raptors probably bolted because they wanted to get the heck out of Canada.) But Earl Boykins is going to make $3.5 million [...]

I'm fine with you Europeans stealing Josh Childress. His hair and weird gums would make you think there's something funny about him but there's not. He's a good player. Not great. He doesn't do anything stupid and he's probably boring. Taking Earl Boykins is another matter. How dare you, Italy?! What little guy can we make fun of now? That's just unkind to be stealing our hilarious looking players....

There’s been a ton of crazy stuff going on lately with basketball players going European. We had Brandon Jennings spurn Arizona for Europe, Josh Childress go Greek, LeBron say he’d consider Europe, and Kobe say the same thing. We also have seen several foreign NBA players return to Europe this off-season where they’re [...]
