ESPN the Magazine has a great article on the Celtics second round pick, Bill Walker. It really makes you want to pull for this guy. Just as with Leon Powe, his promise was curtailed by injuries. Hopefully, Walker's story will have as good a result as Powe's has so far. Here is a a little taste of what the article has to say: Late in Kansas State's loss to Oregon in November, Bill Walker hustled downcourt,...

1. In the post game coverage, right after the game was over, KG was yelling and started to fall back and Leon Powe was behind him and wrapped his arms around him and said, "I got you KG, I got you." That just seemed to summarize the season. The players all had each others backs all season. 2. In the final minutes of the game, Perk was standing on the sidelines holding his son. It was such a great...

OK, Bruins. You're on notice. After a bunch of Patriots parades, and a Red Sox rolling rally that seemingly everyone in New England came to (and then a second), the Celtics got to climb on the Duck Boats this morning (like Leon Powe, pictured) and roll from the TDBNGarden to Copley Square. (We were camped out in front of the Orpheum, snapping everything in sight .) This is the highlight of the C's...

Having lived, roughly, the Celtics' and Lakers' travel schedule for the last couple of weeks, it is my firm suspicion that both teams will be a little tired tonight. Which means, to me, that fresh legs will be at a premium. If I were Doc Rivers, I would get youngsters like Leon Powe, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, and Tony Allen out there plenty. Experience and talent are primary, but a youngster at 100%...

Filed under: Celtics , Lakers , NBA Injuries , NBA Playoffs , Boston , Los Angeles Starting center Kendrick Perkins spent Game 5 in (really big) street clothes for Boston, catapulting Leon Powe into the starting line-up and P.J. Brown into the heavy end of the rotation. Before Sunday night's contest, Doc Rivers noted Perk wouldn't likely be ready for Game 6 either. "I would say that would probably...

The margin for error is down to zero. On the other hand, the margin for "shocking, historic comebacks" has never been wider. So you give a little, you get a little. Leon Powe to start for Kendrick Perkins. No lineup changes for the Lakers. BK with the first. FIRST QUARTER: The crowd is active early, which is a good sign for LA. They need to keep it up through the mega-break that comes between the introductions...

UPDATE: IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD, NO PERKINS FOR BOSTON. DOC SAID INITIALLY, PJ BROWN OR LEON POWE WILL START- THEY'LL STILL GO BIG. THE SMALL LINEUP, THOUGH, IS ALWAYS AN OPTION. AS YOU WERE -MORE INTERESTING STUFF- PJ SAID HIS TEAM WAS "YOUNG AND DUMB ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS," MEANING COME BACK FROM A 3-1 DEFICIT. HE SEEMED TO THINK THE VETS ON THE SQUAD HAVE BOUNCED BACK WELL, BUT IS WAITING TO...

- Have you noticed that Celtics’ forward Leon Powe wears the #0 like Gilbert? It’s not a coincidence. “He inspired me,” Powe said. “I’ve talked to Gilbert a couple of times. I know why Gilbert wears zero. Nobody gave me a chance neither, and it’s really been hard for me.” - Epic Carnival has the top 5 [...]

The Lakers try to become the first team in ... (let's see, consults record books..) TWO years to come back from a 2-0 deficit to win an NBA Finals. The Celtics come armed with the knowledge that they are likely better than the Lakers. I've come away with the knowledge that Leon Powe is actually on the Celtics. Go figure.

It's a must that I bust any mic you're hand to me, It's inherited, it's runs in the family… Some of the buzz here in CO after Game Two of the NBA Finals was about Leon Powe, the (ahem) one time Nuggets draft pick who joined the ranks of Timmy Smith, “Turning Japanese,” and Buster Douglas as a one-hit wonder. When I first heard the name Leon Powe, I thought, “yeah he’s the dude from ‘Above the Rim’...

Why did Boston keep turning to Leon Powe, of all people, in Game 2? Because Luke Walton can't guard him, Marques Johnson says.
