The second installment of Armintie Price's blog - "The A. P. Wire" - is up at Dream Diary : The Official Atlanta Dream Blog. I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. My husband and I spent the week in Boca Raton, Florida with the Ole Miss team. We had a tournament at FAU (Florida Atlantic University) and we won the tourney!!

I just took a look at a new blog entry by Chamique Holdsclaw . If these are her words, Holdsclaw can definitely write. It also looks like Armintie Price is starting a mini-blog on the Atlanta Dream web site. Price is off to a good start, mentioning the fact that she is working as an assistant coach for Mississippi during the off-season. A few athletes have blogs at the WNBA site itself. The blogs are...

Last year, I did a few posts regarding similarity scores . From the earlier post: Similarity Scores was designed to be a fair way to compare players by their career statistical lines. The idea is "start with 1000" points and then begin to take away points from points of difference. For example, if two players had career steals totals that were 20 steals apart, we would take one point away...

Through following Ivory Latta's Twitter messages, I've figured out that she's playing in Turkey, and now I know where. She'll be playing for Mersin. The link (in Turkish) is here . Last year, she played with Ceyhan in Turkey, and transferred to Israel - a transfer which was probably a straight buy-out of Latta's contract, as Maccabi Rabat Hen needed help. Turkey's season starts on October 24. An update...

Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry is the WNBA's rookie of the year. McCoughtry, the No. 1 overall draft pick this past season, received 27 votes from members of the media. Runner-up DeWanna Bonner, who has Phoenix in the WNBA finals, got nine votes. McCoughtry was instrumental in helping the Dream complete a remarkable turnaround in their second season, making the playoffs after winning only four...

That's what I call it. Others call it the "fast break". The "transition game". And Swanny's Stats has some extra stats involving fast break points. Most points scored . Cappie Pondexter of the Mercury is the leader with 132 total fast break points, but Iziane Castro Marques is 4th with 103, Angel McCoughtry is 5th with 91, and Chamique Holdsclaw is 18th with 60. Highest percentage...

Sue over at the They're Playing Basketball blog asked me why Atlanta Dream is in second place after being in seventh place last year. If I were to ask Bob Corwin, he'd probably roll his eyes and say, "Well, Pet, they have better players than they did in 2008." However, I think Sue F. is asking a more subtle question - "why is this group of players so good"? Indeed, if you look at...

Angelica Suffren (#22) tries explaining the double technical to Marynell Meadors. Wow. What a game. It wasn't the greatest game in the world, but it was the atmosphere that made it great. For a purpose as deadly serious as increasing breast cancer awareness, the attendees showed up and were determined to have a good time. Maybe it was just the pink pom-poms that were handed out, but people brought...

I'm probably not going to be writing about the Dream/Shock game today. However, SPMSportsPage.com has not only provided an article , but also a gallery of images . Maybe tomorrow will be a better posting day. BONUS: If you want to see a spiffy picture of Armintie Price in her Dream uniform, thank @atlantadream from Twitter. The pic is here .

Here's what we know about our Dream players off-season. Erika de Souza is returning to Ros Casares in Spain where she'll be playing in both the Spanish League and the Euroleague. (Euroleague and Eurocup are "superleagues" involving teams from multiple countries.) She played for El Ros last year as well. Sancho Lyttle is moving to Perfumerias in Spain. She'll also be playing in both the Spanish...
