Last year, I did a few posts regarding similarity scores . From the earlier post: Similarity Scores was designed to be a fair way to compare players by their career statistical lines. The idea is "start with 1000" points and then begin to take away points from points of difference. For example, if two players had career steals totals that were 20 steals apart, we would take one point away...

Former Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez did a one-on-one interview with NFL Network’s Stacey Dales that will be aired on the NFL GameDay Morning pregame show this Sunday at 8 AM. Here are some excerpts of the interview with the Gonzalez, a former Chiefs 10-time Pro Bowler. _ On joining the Falcons after 12 years in Kansas City: "It's like starting all over again. It’s like a...

Every year there's more talk about how bloated the NFL pregame shows keep getting. I thought it was a good idea, in Week 2, to watch every pregame show and see exactly which show is the most bloated. There are five shows to catch, including those on ESPN, NFL Network, CBS, Fox and NBC. For full disclosure, I couldn't tape and watch four shows at once, so the Fox breakdown is on good authority (thanks,...

I'm sorry, but I don't get the whole Erin Andrews thing. Yes, she's attractive, but there are several "reporters" who put her to shame. And as for strong personalities on television, ESPN let one get away and now NFL Network gets to reap the benefits. Welcome Stacey Dales to NFLN, who I will personally take over EA anyday! Click on the title for the story.

Reading this line from Mike Toth in Bruce Dowbiggin 's column calls to mind the time back in the day broadcasting Queen's football games when there was a analyst who, during his first game, had an unfortunate tendency of uttering a drawn-out, "Wow," after almost every play. Really, wow is about all one can say: "On The Fan 590, Rogers Sportsnet host Mike Toth suggested that young women...

OK, so we’ve issued a few controversial statements here and there since we started this whole Sportspoop nonsense a couple months ago. But they all pale in comparison to the statement we’re about to make: Erin Andrews is a tad overrated. There. We said it. And truth be told, we think a lot of you out there [...]

Stacey Dales: The 2nd most fetching sideline reporter in the brief history of sideline reporting (Melissa Stark) is close to finding work again. She apparently is in the mix for a New Jersey Nets reporting job on the YES Network. Ironicically, the person who held the job previously, Michelle Beadle, is now at ESPN. Dales’ [...]

Two years ago on this date an accident happened that made national news and delivered my favorite one liner, "It's like saying you can get another wife to replace your wife, because she's a woman." I vividly remember everything from the smoking wreck of a Ford Expedition to the actual ride out on September 8th. In general, the experience is a lot more fun to reflect upon than actually partake...

Poor Stacey Dales. Before last week, she was just another former player with a camera-friendly face who got the axe at ESPN. But since her rumored fly-me-first-class-or-I'm-out demands, she's become...

It was tough not to chuckle last week when popular sideline reporter Stacey Dales didn’t sign a contract with ESPN because the two butted heads over flying coach. We spoke with two media sources who attempted to shed some light on Dales’ statements to the Oklahoman. “At some point, you have to take a stand at [...]

From: Gonzalez, John To: Ford, Bob; Sheridan, Phil Subject: First class So Stacey Dales left ESPN a few months ago and no one really blinked. But now reports are circulating about why the former TV analyst parted ways with the Worldwide Leader. To wit: Dales decided not to sign a new contract because ESPN wanted her to fly coach even though a lot of the network's talent travels first class.

It's been generally known that Stacey Dales was moving away from ESPN -- interesting "reason" suggested in this article out of Oklahoma (if you aren't too distracted by the wicked inane looking cheerleader-type wiggling for your attention). In negotiating a new three-year contract in December, Dales said she reached an impasse with the network over a travel provision that she did not specify....

by Will Brinson Filed under: Blogs , ESPN , Sports Media , Current Events Stacey Dales left ESPN a few months ago on a "matter of principle," when the two sides could not meet in the middle on a certain portion of her contract. At the time, this was alleged to be some sort of "travel provision." We heard about it and we all moved on. Then the rumor surfaced that Dales backed out...

Mel Bracht of the DAILY OKLAHOMAN reports today that ESPN sideline reporter Stacey Dales had quit the network because she “was unhappy with flying coach while many of her colleagues were flying first class.” (DEADSPIN first broke the news - and wasn’t credited by the Oklahoman.) Dales had been with the network since 2002. She told [...]
