Former University of Wisconsin basketball player Brian Butch, an undrafted free agent, has accepted invitations to participate in minicamps for the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks, Butch said Friday.

Coming from the Fox Valley Association of the WIAA, we can't say we were the biggest Brian Butch fans. However, we have to admit we came around on him after his success with the Badgers (well, at least I did). I would have been shocked to see him get drafted, but he does have some options. According to Mark Stewart at JSOnline , Butch will be in Boston next week to participate in the Celtics minicamp....

He’ll probably end up on someone’s summer league team, and eventually find himself playing in Europe for a nifty paycheck for awhile, maybe finding his way back for a few short stints in the NBA. Well I finally saw a 28. Not necessarily the 28 but definitely a potential 28th pick for the Grizzlies. D.J. White (Indiana) showed himself to be a man among boys today when he worked out against Brian Butch (Wisconsin) and James Mays (Clemson). At first I wasn't too impressed.
