About rookies like Russell Westbrook, Jerryd Bayless, Anthony Randolph, Jason Thompson and Kevin Love, in a review of everyone's summer performances . Thorpe's so-so on some of the other big names. For instance, here is Thorpe on O.J. Mayo: I don't see a lot of upside with him, but I don't see much of a downside either. His ability to get open jumpers off the dribble is nice, and he competes pretty...

Filed under: Timberwolves , Western , Summer League Notes from a trip to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas . Kevin Love looked like the real deal in Las Vegas, manhandling the competition en route to averaging a league-high 13.5 boards a game. He would have finished with more, too, had he not played just 18 minutes in his final game due to a sore left Achilles. Wearing a bag of ice on his shoulder...

Kevin Love was held out of the Minnesota Timberwolves' summer league game Sunday afternoon against the New York Knicks for precautionary reasons with an inflamed left Achilles. He left in the second half of Minnesota's game Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks with the same injury, which team official don't consider severe. Love was expected to practice later Sunday with U.S. national team at a local...

By Maurice Brooks No Love When the summer league schedule was released, Knicks vs. Timberwolves was a must-see matchup. Without New York's Danilo Gallinari (his back is still sore) and Minnesota's Kevin Love (sore Achilles) it is simply game No. 49 of 53. Love posted a double-double in three of the four games he played in. The one game he didn't was Saturday when he was on the floor for just 18 minutes...

Filed under: Timberwolves , Trail Blazers , Western , Summer League Notes from a trip to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas . A couple of days ago, I wrote that the player who impressed me the most in the Las Vegas Summer League was Kevin Love . After examining more evidence, I'd like to re-phrase that. I still think that Love is the most NBA-ready prospect I've seen -- and I'll go so far as to say...

Sitting in the stands before the Suns / Wizards end the Summer League and low and behold the most amazing thing happened during the Knicks / T-Wolves games. No, the Knicks aren't playing any defense (they are down 75 to 55 in the 3rd and that's with Kevin Love out w/ a rolled ankle). No, its better then that. During half time they called Nate Robinson to center court and retired his Summer League...

If I'm reading this press release correctly, Kevin Love is headed to Las Vegas to help the U.S. Men's Olympic basketball team train for the games in Beijing, China. It seems to me it's both an honor for Love to be selected and a good chance for him to work on his game against some of the best players in the country. Other Pac 10 players on the Select Team include Robin Lopez, O.J. Mayo and Andre Iguodala....

It might've only been summer league, but Kris Johnson liked what he saw from Kevin Love so much that he called him the B word.

Filed under: Timberwolves , Eastern , Summer League Notes from a trip to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas . Of all the players performing down here at Summer League, the guy who's impressed me the most has been Kevin Love -- and it's not even close. He's getting an easy 20 points a game, which I suppose was expected, but he's been an absolute beast on the boards getting 15 a game. (And all the people...

The former Bruins center is changing his body tone, but not his style, with Timberwolves. LAS VEGAS -- When Kevin Love was in the eighth grade, his father, Stan, called a trusted friend, longtime college coach Jim Harrick, and said, "I think my son is really good."

Day Six didn’t hold many surprises, but a few players did have great performances. Marcus Williams showed up big for the Clippers, while Kevin Love dominated the paint with his fundamentals and strength.
