At noon Eastern on ESPN (and ESPN HD!), world-renowned competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi will try to outgorge Joey Chestnut at the annual Fourth of July hot dog eating competition on Coney Island. Kobayashi managed to scarf 63 dogs and buns in 12 minutes last year but lost by three to Chestnut, a 24-year-old Californian.

Brett Favre reportedly is considering coming out of retirement. ESPN's Chris Mortensen said Wednesday that a Packers source told him that Favre, 38, told coach Mike McCarthy in the past two weeks that he has the itch to play. The QB retired March 6 after a 17-year career.
