Ah yes, the perfect storm for a sports blogger: an incredibly attractive female athlete paired with an ESPN personality made to look like a moron. For some reason or another, Jay Crawford of ESPN's First Take agreed to step in the batter's box and face all-world softball player Jennie Finch. Crawford's co-host Dana Jacobson would have definitely fared better against Finch.

For those who thought that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was merely joking when he complained about his attributes in Madden NFL 10 and said he was boycotting the game , well, you were mistaken. But if you thought the media was making a mountain out of a molehill, you may have been right on that count. On Friday morning, Madden NFL 10 developers Ian Cummings (lead designer) and...

We suppose that we can forgive Dana Jacobson this minor transgression, but it’s hilarious nonetheless. During ESPN’s “First Take” this morning, Jacobson referred to college basketball analyst Stephen Bardo thusly: “St. Louis is considered one of America’s greatest sports towns, but is it the best? Skip and Stephen A. will debate that, coming up next.” [...]...

When attempting to explain the Ravens’ goals for the 2009 season, second-year quarterback Joe Flacco summed it up in his typical, succinct style. “We’re ready to get in there, work hard and add one more win on top of last year,” Flacco told Dana Jacobson of ESPN’s First Take last week.

Lucky beach ball. We’ve been listening to ESPN Radio this week and it’s laughable how the personalities at the WWL have come to the defense of Steve McNair’s lifestyle. Cowherd is saying Steve “really cared for kids.” Dana Jacobson recorded a piece telling fans to look in the mirror. The lesson here according to talk radio - cheat [...]

I really like the comments Ray Edwards made Thursday morning on ESPN's First Take. I've brought it up many times that Favre was viewed as a distant locker room presence in New York last season, since he didn't use the same locker room as the rest of the team. It's little surprise, then, that he was criticized anonymously by some members of the Jets for separating himself from everyone else. I'm counting...

by Michael David Smith Filed under: MMA Media Watch , MMA Videos Shaquille O'Neal incorporates some mixed martial arts into his off-season training , and ESPN decided that would be an interesting story. No complaints there. But the way ESPN went about reporting the story -- with Dana Jacobson interviewing Shaq's trainer -- turned it into a ridiculous infomercial for the gym where Shaq trains, with...

BSPN’s vodka-swilling Dana Jacobson had an over three-minute chat with Bucs bust-in-waiting Josh Freeman. Jacobson seems intrigued by Freeman’s nickname, “Tito.” Freeman also discusses the “smokescreen” allegation he made about Bryon Leftwich on an NFL.com live chat.

This wouldn’t be the first time an ESPNer (female) was drunk at some random party. (See Dana Jacobson). Here we have, what YouTubers claim, is reporter Shelley Smith at the Final Four stumbling into some guy’s arms as he asks for a photo. The title of the video is “Shelley Smith Closing Down The Bar.” That sure [...]

Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times appears with vodka-swilling Dana Jacobson of BSPNews to talk about Bucs draft. The video is slightly dated, taped just before Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler was traded to the Bears. But at least they talk based on the premise the Bucs weren’t going to get Cutler. Joe won’t spill the beans [...]
