Obama and turnout by black voters

David Hill, The Hill - A lot of experts are starting to anticipate a sharp rise in voter turnout among African-Americans this November, fueled by pride in Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) candidacy. The specter of this surge is frightening a lot of incumbent Republican officeholders who think they will be drowned in a rising tide of [...]

David Hill

I came upon this fine article about David Hill in the Cambridge University alumnus magazine. Long recognized as one of Britain's most inspiring conductors, with the gift of injecting passion and a sense of fun into the most rigorous rehearsal, David Hill began his musical life in Manchester, gaining an organ scholarship to St John's, Cambridge. In 1982 he came to Westminster...

Triple Whammy for Larry

This hasn't been a good day for Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford. First, Jefferson County senators failed to approve either of two proposals to raise the mayor’s pay (one would be immediate, the other would be effective at the beginning of the next term of office). Then Transit Director David Hill found his backbone [...]

Morning Coffee 162

Another nice thing about the new job: I'm working in the vicinity of some good friends. I was over in building 42 yesterday and made it a point to stop by Pat Helland 's office yesterday and spend an hour or so chatting about the new gig. Pat is down the hall from David Hill , whom I worked with on Architecture Strategy. Back in my building, we're down the hall from the VSX folks including...

Lawyer Accuses Vancouver City Mgr. of “Dictatorial” and Unlawful Conduct

It may be true that you can’t fight City Hall. But if you hire a lawyer you might at least break through stonewalling by Vancouver City Hall Community Services General Manager Jacquie Forbes-Roberts and her in-house lawyer, David Hill, both of whom have been disregarding the law. Carnegie Board member Rachel Davis forked over her own money to [...]

Tony Blair’s Information Diet

Looks like Tony Blair was an early adherent of Tim "4-Hour Work Week" Ferriss' Information Diet - at least if this PR Week story is to be believed. According to David Hill, Blair's former communications director from 2003 to 2007 (and now a director at Bell Pottinger)" ‘His attitude was always that ...

Click the Button

I'm so ready to click that thing -- Transitionals is ready to go! Since my last post, so many things have happened. Certainly not the least of which is having David Hill from the original Acropolis team do a code reviewing with me over Live Meeting. How cool is that? From a code perspective, RandomTransitionSelector can now load all the transitions in an assembly and even lets you customize...
