Just for the historical record, The Atlantic was ruined by Michael Kelly, a hack newspaper columnist and überhawk who became the editor around 2002. Unfortunately Kelly was killed in Iraq shortly thereafter, so there's no real point in flicking him shit any more. Imagine a nastier, less-talented Andrew Sullivan without Sullivan's redeeming qualities. (Both were New Republic products).
