This video, made in 2003, was produced to promote Rebel Visions: The Underground Comix Revolution 1963-1975 by Patrick Rosencrantz. The video has interviews with Gilbert Shelton, R. Crumb, Rick Griffin, Spain Rodriguez, Robert Williams and Justin Green. (I reviewed the hardback edition in 2003 for the LA Weekly) Fantagraphics has just released a revised and expanded paperback edition....

You got your Robert Williams , of course, and then you got your Robert Bechtle... and what more could you need? I've got a print of Alameda Gran Torino hanging on my living-room wall, and it serves as inspiration every time I head out the door on a DOTS photo...

Maine NAACP runs into issues–where is Robert Williams when you need him?

In hindsight I’m pretty sure that P6 wrote a bit about this story. That particular painting was of course used as the cover art for the album of the same name by a little band out of L.A. called Guns & Roses. Anyway Mr. Williams has a new website right here .
