I don't know about you, but I woke up feeling terrible this morning. I wasn't mad or sad or anything like that. I just felt bad for the Texans, especially for Gary Kubiak, Matt Schaub and all those players and coaches who worked tirelessly and fought endlessly to win that game. It's hard for those of us on the outside to imagine the work that goes into preparing for an NFL. When I covered the Washington...
Vince Young did what he almost always does. He walked off the field as the winning quarterback. If you're counting, he's 52-13 since leaving Madison High School. Some of you will write in to say that he's not really that good, and that he's just, well, lucky. You're missing the point. Playing quarterback in the NFL is about arm strength and smarts and all that stuff. Just as important is leadership...
From John McClain (with a tip o' the cap to texanphil ): "I had an assumption that I would start, but nothing was concrete until now," Slaton said after being told by coach Gary Kubiak that he would be starting. "I'm happy about it. It's an opportunity I have to take full advantage of." It probably goes without saying, but I like this move a whole lot. Ryan Moats got the start in...
Have you thought about what a huge, devastating defeat that would be for the Texans? This probably isn't the biggest game they've ever played if they win it. If they win, the next one will be bigger and the one after that will be bigger and on and on. The Texans have left themselves little margin for error, so they absolutely, positively must win the Tennessee, Seattle and St. Louis games to stay...
HEAD COACH GARY KUBIAK (on if it is a fair assessment that the last game and the upcoming game versus the Titans are the biggest in franchise history) I don’t know about that. I think it’s positi...
The Titans are 11-4 in the regular season against the Texans . The Titans have never played the Texans in the postseason. The Titans are 5-2 in Houston, and Jeff Fisher is 5-2 against Gary Kubiak. Vince Young has made one start in Houston. You might remember it because of this: In case you didn't know, this is the Monday Night Football game so the broadcast will be handled by Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski...
Mario Williams has already earned the nickname "Super Mario" among Houston Texans fans. If he continues the dominance he's shown in his first two night games against the Titans this Monday, a more apt moniker might the one Deion Sanders favored in his 14-year NFL career. Just call Williams "Prime Time." The top overall draft pick in 2006 has had the two best games of his four-year...
The Houston Chronicle reports Texans WR Jacoby Jones missed practice Monday with a calf injury. He will be listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Titans. The Texans had a bye in Week 10. "It was sore, but there was no concern, really," coach Gary Kubiak said. "He went home, got away for a few days, came back with some swelling, so we're getting it checked out."
When you look at the numbers, it's hard to imagine the Texans are a winning team. To think they're a few plays away from being 7-1 is amazing when you look at the numbers, penalties and running game. Anyway, all the numbers do is give Gary Kubiak and his staff a good working list for the bye week. Let's go to the big board: The Texans are 15th in scoring offense and 14th in scoring defense....

(AP Photo/Orlin Wagner) Browse more photos » Despite up to four teams not ruling him out of their plans, former Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has gone unclaimed in the waiver wire process according to multiple reports. Few important notes now that he's gone unclaimed: He is a free agent and available...
One would think that the Houston Texans, with the duo of running backs Steve Slaton and Larry Johnson, would be in good hands (pun semi-unintended) despite the propensity for turning over the ball. Apparently, team head coach Gary Kubiak doesn’t seem to think so as they are interested in signing former Kansas City Chiefs RB [...]
by Dan Graziano Filed under: Texans , AFC South , NFL Analysis Maybe Texans coach Gary Kubiak was just doing the standard NFL coach non-answer thing. When asked yesterday about his team having interest in just-released Chiefs malcontent RB Larry Johnson , Kubiak hemmed and hawed, called Johnson "a good player" and said, "We'll take a look at him." And this might mean nothing, of...

This guy is a good coach. Knows the game. Knows people. He's got a good general manager, too, and a really good owner. He has done an extraordinary job rebuilding the Texans. It's easy to say the Texans should have been rebuilt as quickly as the Falcons or Ravens. Problem is, none of those teams had to come as far as the Texans had to come after inheriting a 2-14 mess from the Dom and Charley era....
