Field Gulls advise to stay away from Holmgren. Image via blogs.suntimes.com View full size photo » With Jim Zorn's fate sealed, the Redskins have already begun the hunt for a new head coach (and possibly GM). Since the Redskins front office has proven they have little skill or patience in selecting a leader not named Joe Gibbs, I've taken on the task to educate myself and anyone that cares about...

Maybe we'll look back and see that Gary Kubiak knew what he was doing all along. Maybe we'll recognize that he was never the problem, that he was always a really good NFL coach. Now that he has better players it's easy to see. One thing that has impressed me from day one is that there's no phony in Gary Kubiak. What you see is what you get. He's blunt in his post-game assessments, both good and bad....

by Thomas George Filed under: Redskins There was a Joe Gibbs sighting at a restaurant near the Washington Redskins complex on Tuesday that fueled more speculation that Gibbs might soon take an official role with the team. Redskins general manager Vinny Cerrato said that was not happening. "Joe has a place in the area," Cerrato said. "He remains a friend of the Redskins. But no, he was...

Head coach Jim Zorn's press conference today was an interesting affair, to say the least. "Surrealistic," was Larry Weisman's choice of words over on the Redskins.com mothership , and I can't really argue. You can watch the whole thing up above; here are a few choice highlights and "surrealistic" elements. Chris Samuels is out Monday night. This, as I mentioned earlier today, is...

And so the weekly farce continues, with national shows openly discussing Jim Zorn's successor while the Skins front office takes a second swipe at the coach's manhood without actually firing him or endorsing him. Sunday night, right around the time his playcalling duties were being nabbed, ESPN put two of its top NFL guys on the tube to discuss who would take his real job after he's fired. "There...

(By Larry French - Getty) I'm definitely veering unpleasantly toward the pit of negativity. I'm gonna try to work on that. Negativity has never been my shtick. Still, I thought these numbers were worth posting. Avert your eyes if you'd rather enjoy the beautiful sunlight. As has oft been mentioned, the Campbell-Zorn team has never combined on a 30-point game. In fact, the last time the Redskins reached...

Joe Gibbs did it. Steve Spurrier did it, too, though he later undid it. So maybe it's time for Jim Zorn to at least entertain the notion. Maybe the Z-Man should consider - in light of his offense's continuing aversion to the end zone - turning the playcalling over to someone else. It's a radical move, obviously, for any coach - an admission of failure, really. But Zorn wouldn't be admitting anything...
