Minnesota met Monday for a light practice after their bye week Sunday of Week 9. Coach Brad Childress said cornerback Antoine Winfield was able to move around on the field a little. Winfield hurt his right foot against Baltimore on Oct. 18 and missed the next two games.

Winfield Back in Action Some good news coming off a great bye week: Antoine Winfield was able to get on the practice field for a bit today (though not during the part of practice that was open to the media). Still don't know when he'll be back -- Chilly didn't address that today -- but Toine's apparently getting there.

Many of us fans, and especially the Vikings coaches, are hoping for a speedy recovery for the Vikings top cornerback Antoine Winfield. The latest update I can pass along is that Winfield is not practicing on Monday. I wouldn’t read too much into this, as Winfield still has the possibility to play on Sunday. I was speaking with [...]

2009 Vikings: first half 2009 Minnesota Vikings 7-1, including four wins road wins, 5-0 in the conference and 3-0 in the division, and five home games remaining. It's hard to be in much better shape right now. Let's look at some things that happened in the first half and how it might be relevant to the second half. Good Surprises Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin: Rice is on pace for 1,000 yards, and has...

It appears only one NFC team stands in the Vikings' way at the halfway point of the season. Here are their cheerleaders. View full size photo » If you gave every NFL team the option of when they wanted their bye week, I'm guessing most teams would pick Week 9 because it is the precise median of the 17-week NFL season. Thankfully, the Vikings get that perfect weekend of to kick back and enjoy...

So I get home from work a few days ago, and I found a nice surprise in my mailbox from the good folks at Sports Illustrated Books. It was a copy of Peter King's new tome Monday Morning Quarterback: A fully caffeinated guide to everything you need to know about the NFL . Now, I know that I've had my differences with Mr. King in the past. . .well not with Mr. King, per se, but with some of the things...

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield will not play on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The Pro Bowler was listed as out in Friday's injury report. He also missed last week's game against Pittsburgh because of the injured right foot. Coach Brad Childress says he saw Winfield make progress throughout the week. But the Vikings have a bye after Green Bay, so they could be playing it safe...
