Good morning everyone! It's gameday, as I'm sure you know.. I'm writing this just after rewatching UFC 106 and man am I tired. I'm also pumped at the same time, which is a weird feeling. I'm stoked because the fights were good and now everyone in my house is hyping up the game tomorrow. I should have a good amount of links tonight though I'm writing this before checking, I bet I'll have a bunch of...

Aaaand, I'm back on for the Saturday Simulation of the Sunday games. Fooch sent me an email and my replacement er... needed a replacement, so you're back to reading my colorful commentary! Basically I put in Madden NFL 10 for the Xbox 360 and set it to All-Madden and spectate a game in its entirety and provide commentary. Now, Madden isn't a perfect simulation, but it is a step up from past installments...

It's Saturday and I'm pumped. The game tomorrow should be really good, I honestly can't wait. I really wish I had a dependable car so I could just up and take a road trip and talk a whole lot of trash to some Packer fans. Anyway, and I mean no disrespect to the 49ers, but from the time after I post this until tomorrow morning I won't be thinking about the 49ers a whole lot as I'm going to be busy tonight...

After last week's short week, we return to a fairly normal practice report (instead of Monday being the Wednesday injury report). The biggest non-practice info for the Packers is that defensive end Cullen Jenkins sat out practice today. He played last week and I think it's safe to say he's getting some veteran's rest. Other than that, the Packers had some limited guys, but most of those folks usually...

Morning everyone, I'm back from my brief absence. I've been having a lot of those lately, but I'm sincerely trying to cut back on them. Anyway, back now and all is well. Or as close to well as possible. Yesterday we had a great Sunday of football as far as entertainment goes but two negatives as far as the 49ers are concerned. These of course are the Panthers winning their game against the Falcons...

Earlier in the season, defensive end Justin Smith said emphatically that teammate Aubrayo Franklin was the best nose tackle in the NFL. "Tape don't lie," Smith said at the time. Several weeks later, the only thing that has changed is Smith's grammar. "Tape...

Aaaand my voice has returned. Good morning, folks. And now I feel like the 49ers are on a bye week, which is weird. I just hate going into Saturday/Sunday without anticipating a Niner game. Still, I suppose I have UFC 105 to look forward to today, even if it looks to be an incredibly boring card. As for the 49ers, I'm getting more and more convinced that the team can go into the game next Sunday against...

On Sunday the Cardinals wiped the floor with the Chicago bears to the tune of 41-21. Last night the 49ers narrowly avoided LOSING....at HOME ...to that same team. Oh, sure, it's the NFL, and a win's a win. But a 10-6 squeaker -- on a night where Jay (Santa Claus) Cutler seemed to have an interception for every stocking -- is NOT exactly making a statement. Okay, so he only threw 5 interceptions to...

Mike Singletary usually has an 11:45am press conference the day after the 49ers play. Today it was bumped up to 10:45 and I didn't get a discussion post up. I just received the transcript for the press conference and have posted it after the jump. If you'd like to read it while watching the actual press conference, you can watch the archived footage at 49ers.com. There is a whole assortment of quotable...

The calls for Lovie Smith's head are only going to escalate following the Bears' 10-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. Fans don't care about the added cost of firing a head coach with years left on his contract, we just want to see our team win. Especially the winnable games. Thurday night's game, against a team that entered the game with a 3-5 record, was one of those games the...

The following 49ers defenders were helpful contributors in Week 10 vs. Chicago: DB Mark Roman (six solo tackles, interception); DB Dashon Goldson (five solo tackles, interception); LB Patrick Willis (11 total tackles); DT Aubrayo Franklin (three total tackles, interception); DB Michael Lewis (four total tackles, interception); and CB Tarell Brown (solo tackle, interception).

As hideous as much of this game may have seemed, there is of course a whole assortment of random notes to ponder related to the interceptions: The 49ers defense registered 5 interceptions against the Bears. It was the first time a 49ers team notched at least 5 interceptions since September 14, 1997, vs. New Orleans (6 interceptions). It marked the first time since September 7, 1986, at Tampa Bay, that...

Yesterday's 34-27 loss to the Titans (the f'ing Titans, for crying out loud!!!) was just plain ugly. U-G-L-Y. After playing quite well for 3 quarters, resulting in a 20-17 lead, a meltdown of Biblical magnitude resulted in a 34-20 deficit. A late garbage touchdown made the score respectable, but a loss is still a loss. The prime architect of the meltdown was Alex Smith. He played quite well for 3 quarters....

The only significant change today was that Jevon Kearse did not practice. He's been banged up and relatively ineffective this season (minus a sack in the opener), so we'll see if we see him on Sunday. After the jump we've got the Thursday transcripts from Greg Manusky and Jimmy Raye. 49ers Out (Definitely Will Not Play) CB Nate Clements (shoulder) DE Demetric Evans (shoulder) OT Joe Staley (knee) Did...

Morning everyone. So I've finally got my new laptop, the one I really wanted and man, I've been eager to do the Nuggets like all day. I just like using this thing, seriously. To continue to stray for a moment, if any of you have Vista and you are disappointed, I implore you, upgrade to Windows 7 and you will NOT be disappointed. But back to football, there's not much going on in 49erland today. As...
