With the final round of cuts and what appears to be all of the waiver claims out of the way, it's time to take a look at what the Lions ' 53-man roster looks like. Before I get to that, though, let's examine who has been cut in the last few days to help get the roster down to 53 players. Cut on Saturday: QB Brooks Bollinger - No surprise here. Quarterback Jeff Garcia, who was signed by Oakland in the offseason to push JaMarcus Russell and serve as a mentor to the former No. 1 overall draft pick, was among 22 players let go by the Raiders on Saturday. The Detroit Lions have set their roster with 53 players they hope can help them win a game for the first time since 2007. Detroit released the following offensive players Saturday night: quarterback...

View full size photo uploaded September 5, 2009 The Lions have officially submitted and released their 53-man roster. Not long after the Lions drafted him in the third round, Derrick Williams went to a Red Wings game with fellow wide receivers Calvin Johnson and Bryant Johnson. They teased him because he had a Red Wings logo tattooed on his left shoulder. "I was just looking for a wing with a wheel," Williams said. "It was the Red Wings logo, too." Williams' nickname was "D-Wheels"...

For the past couple of years I have posted a few different roster predictions after training camp began to give readers an idea of who could end up surviving the final round of cuts. I have held off on doing that for this year until now mainly because this is the first time the new front-office and new coaching staff will put together the Lions ' 53-man roster. Last year, for example, I had previous...

Training camp is now technically over . Players are no longer required to stay in a hotel, and there is no longer a curfew. Practice still continues on, but the players' living arrangements are a bit different now (if they choose to leave the hotel). With Jason Hanson out until at least the start of the regular season and Swayze Waters suffering the effects of a tight hamstring, the Lions decided to...

Lions rookie safety Louis Delmas delivered another big hit in practice Wednesday, drilling running back Aveion Cason. Cason said he was pulling up because he heard the whistle. He said he didn't see Delmas coming and was not pleased. He went after Delmas, followed by right tackle Gosder Cherilus, center Dominic Raiola and others. A scuffle ensued in the end zone.
