Filed under: Patriots The Patriots drafted wide receiver Bethel Johnson in the second round of the 2003 draft. Three years later, he had 39 career receptions and was looking for work. Johnson landed in Minnesota for the 2006 season, but is now out of the league. That same year, the Patriots again used a second-round pick on a wideout, this time Chad Jackson . Jackson was drafted to replace Deion Branch...

Bethel Johnson is having fun again. It's obvious by the ready smile and easy laughter. Then there's the enthusiasm that bursts forth when he scorches another CFL defence as he's done in each of the Argonauts' pre-season games.

Yesterday, the Patriots hosted free agent wide receiver Bethel Johnson for a visit. As you probably remember, Johnson was our second round pick in 2003. Despite his blazing speed and return abilities, Johnson was never able to catch on in New England, getting traded for Jonathan Sullivan last season. My guess is that the Patriots are [...]

Now that the preseason is officially over (well, the games, anyway), it's time for Smithiak to trim the roster down to 53. The hammer should be coming down on 22 Texans either today or tomorrow. Some quick thoughts on last night's tussle : Bethel Johnson sure did get a long look, didn't he? From kick returns to time at WR, it seemed clear that Kubes was giving him a chance to state his case. Was it...

If it was a question of talent, there would be no questions about Bethel Johnson. But the fifth-year wide receiver from Texas A&M entered Texans training camp wearing No. 17 on his jersey when one big question mark would have sufficed.

MVN is reporting that Bethel Johnson has been signed by the Houston Texans. Speed demon, PR/KR threat, better than their current situation. No big deal, right? You'd be right, but read this: "Johnson is also a veteran player with championship experience from his days with the New England

Ummmmm... hurrah? Call me pessimistic, but I don't see Bethel Johnson answering our prayers at the No. 2 WR spot. I'd be excited about the possibility of him contributing in the return game, except that it would seem that said area is awfully full right now with Jacoby Jones, Jerome Mathis, Apostrophe Davis, Dexter Wynn, etc. Best case scenario, I would think, is that Johnson contributes on special...
