You can call him the anti-Clayton. He caught everything thrown his way it seemed. He even caught the one that went out of bounds. Kellen Winslow Jr is from a line of great Tight Ends produced by the U. Used to be Quarterback U back in the day, then Miami produced Running back after back, and then their last mini-dynasty, Tight Ends. Bubba Franks , K2, Shockey, for starters, Winslow was in the spotlight...

Desperate for a blocking tight end, the Jets have signed journeyman Ben Hartsock to a one-year, $1.275 million contract, according to a source. Hartsock was released a few days ago by the Falcons and drew interest from several teams. He's not much of a receiver (27 catches, 273 yards, 0 TDs in five years), but he's regarded as a competent blocker at the point of attack. He has played with the Colts,...

With the arrival of Brett Favre in Minnesota, one Vikings player who should enjoy a bump in passing stats is tight end Visanthe Shiancoe . Favre has always leaned on his tight end on the field, making the likes of Mark Chmura, Bubba Franks , Donald Lee and most recently Dustin Keller relevant Fantasy options.

While players head to Cooperstown today, we’re still rolling. The Baseball HOF is cool, but I liked Ommegang Brewery even better!! Sanchez won the scrimmage within the scrimmage. Cortland is doing well by the Jets coming to practice in their town. Is TE Bubba Franks an option for the Bengals? Woody talks with reporters.

Now that the Bengals are down three Tight Ends, the question becomes, what now? Reggie Kelly is out for the year after having surgery on Wednesday. On the same day, Ben Utecht suffered a nasty concussion which knocked him out for nearly ten minutes before regaining consciousness and was taken to the local hospital. Daniel Coats is listed as day-to-day after the third-string Tight End twisted his ankle....

The tight end position is very similar to the fullback in Mike McCarthy's offense. Both are required to block first, and catch the ball second. The fullback occasionally has a rush attempt, but there were only 8 such attempts in 2008, all to FB John Kuhn . Starting FB Korey Hall combined with Kuhn to only catch 11 passes last season, compared to 39 receptions by starting TE Donald Lee alone. So while...

Was this Daniel’s last chance? Possibly but, in any event Andrew Brandt writes a nice piece on Bubba Franks. The Jets earn the top spot for DT rankings around the AFC East. Go Kris, mow ‘em down! The offensive line is “good” but not “very good.” Rex Ryan doesn’t agree, in fact he is about to piss [...]

The New York Jets have signed veteran free agent TE Richard Owens . The signing Tuesday comes a day after the team released Bubba Franks . Owens, 28, has 17 career catches for 141 yards and a touchdown in four NFL seasons with Minnesota and St. Louis. He was out of the NFL last season after he was cut by the Rams. He was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville in 2004. Owens...

The Browns have waived three players recently -- which names won't you be seeing in training camp? And, why have the roster odds of former Cleveland State basketball player J`Nathan Bullock increased for the New York Jets? Since rookie RB James Davis and rookie LB Kaluka Maiava signed a few days ago, a few more transactions took place. Here is the cliff notes version of them: Sixth-round CB Don Carey...

“[Bubba Frank's] coming around good…We don’t expect Bubba to do anything really until training camp,” said Rex Ryan after the Jets re-signed Bubba Franks on May 11. “Bubba’s a football player, we know it,” continued Ryan. “We signed him knowing that he’s going to be an outstanding blocker for us and he’s gonna have a role.” So [...]...

In the wake of the release of Bubba Franks, here’s what’s on the roster for the Jets at Tight End. Dustin Keller (6-2, 248) 2nd Year — Obviously the team’s top pass catching option. Keller will be used in primarily a pass catching role, but expect the team to use him more in-line this season or [...]
