Washington coach Jim Zorn said Monday that TE Chris Cooley , who is out with a broken ankle, is making progress. " Chris Cooley is getting his ankle checked and hopefully he'll have a good report," Zorn said. "We're hopeful he can get out of that boot. We can start moving his ankle around and getting him on some minimal weight bearing."

The Redskins are dead. Dead, dead, dead. There is no life left to this season. In fact, its clear now the two wins on the record were mere flukes. There is no offense, or defense. The coaches stink, as do the quarterback and running back. The only decent player on the team – Chris Cooley [...]

Redskins TE Fred Davis , playing his first game as the starter with Chris Cooley injured likely for the rest of the year, caught two passes for 26 yards in a loss at Atlanta Week 9. Davis was definitely targeted more than usual but Washington had trouble getting anything going in the passing game.

Washington TE Chris Cooley , who would love to return at some point down the road this season but has an uphill climb after ankle surgery, is out as expected for Week 9 at Atlanta. Cooley is unlikely to play again this season but will certainly do all he can to get back for the final weeks. Fred Davis is definitely worth a look off waivers in Cooley's stead.

The Washington Redskins signed Glenn Pakulak in October hoping they would need only a temporary solution to their problem at punter. No such luck: The club this week signed Sam Paulescu when punter Hunter Smith aggravated a groin injury, and he could keep the job for the rest of the season. Smith won't play Sunday at Atlanta, marking the third game out of four he has missed - a development that could...

It's that time again, Friday night is pick night. Just to recap, I'm 18-8 now after two weeks of doing this. Let's see if we can't rustle up a clean sweep this week. Heres my picks for week 9 of the NFL: Redskins @ Falcons: A lot can happen in a bye week. You have a chance to sit down, reflect, rest and hopefully comeback stronger. It's just a shame that Washington is so bad. And to make things worse,...

LANDOVER, Md. – Sherm Lewis might want to go back to bingo. Or, better yet, he might want to apply for a job as the Philadelphia Eagles' play caller — it's a much easier job with someone such as DeSean Jackson on your side. Jackson scored on a 67-yard reverse and caught a 57-yard touchdown pass in the first half, and the Eagles converted three turnovers into points Monday night in a 27-17

None of these links have anything to DO with Guy Fawkes day, but still. One of the things that's the most frustrating about watching -- and trying to write about -- Redskins practice is that the team, like so many other NFL teams, doesn't actually tackle. It makes it incredibly hard to judge how successful a play actually is, and how good defensive coverage actually is. A guy may get there every time...

Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley hopes to play again this year but knows injuries could create a shortage of roster spots and end his season. Cooley hobbled around Redskin Park on Wednesday on crutches. A cast remains on his right ankle, which was repaired with three screws Oct. 27 after he injured it in a loss to Philadelphia the night before. "The tough decision ends up being on our...
