What an exciting weekend of football ahead of fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings . Two of the NFL's most historic and storied franchises squaring off in an October showdown of teams with Super Bowl aspirations. I'm going to leave much of my analysis of the game for a bit later in the week, but I wanted to begin by laying out what some of the key matchups will be on both sides...

More photos » by Gene J. Puskar - AP Browse more photos » What, you didn't really think it was going to be that easy for the Pittsburgh Steelers, did you? Like they've done the previous two weeks, Pittsburgh roared out of the gates in the 1st half. Only this week, the Steelers offense capitalized on their early success and marched in for touchdowns rather than settling for field goals....

Yeah, yeah, I know it's for a great cause . But, as the dear Cope would say, it's just kinda Feh! After hearing about it, I finally spied one at Honus Wagner's Sports Downtown today: Pink Towel = cognitive dissonance As mentioned, it benefits a very worthy cause, as the Towel always does , but c'mon -- it just looks kinda funny. Nonetheless, the Steelers will be selling pink-themed merchandise this...

I just wanted to throw this discussion starter out there to see what some of you guys thought - are the Steelers making more little mistakes early on in the 2009 season because they are working in a high volume of rookies compared to in years past? It's fairly well documented that rookies don't often see the field much during their first season in Pittsburgh. There have been exceptions, for sure, but...

by JJ Cooper Filed under: Steelers , AFC North When I started studying the Steelers' offensive line in 2006, it sprung from a lot of frustration. Week after week, you heard TV announcers talking about the Steelers' dominating line and it's smashmouth running attack. But as I watched, I saw Sean Mahan being driven backwards play after play, Max Starks struggling to block speed rushers and Kendall Simmons...

by JJ Cooper The old days of Pittsburgh being known as a team unwilling to spend the big bucks need to buried and forgotten. Pittsburgh capped off an extremely busy offseason of signings by re-signing defensive end Brett Keisel to a four-year contract extension. By re-signing Keisel, Pittsburgh now has re-upped Max Starks , Heath Miller , Chris Kemoeatu , Trai Essex and Hines Ward during this offseason....

Defensive end Brett Keisel has signed a five-year contract, becoming the eighth player to reach a new deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers since they won the Super Bowl in February. Because the Steelers have a policy of not negotiating during the regular season, Keisel is expected to be the final player signed before the Sept. 10 opener against Tennessee. Keisel signed his new contract on Monday. The...

Here's my latest version of what I think the Steelers 53-man roster will look like when the roster is trimmed down from 80. The players who are underlined are those that I think may be on the bubble. OFFENSE: Quarterbacks (3): Ben Roethlisberger , Charlie Batch , Dennis Dixon Running Backs (5): Willie Parker , Rashard Mendenhall , Mewelde Moore , Carey Davis , Frank Summers Wide Receivers (5): Hines...

LATROBE, Pa. (AP) James Harrison got his money, and so did Hines Ward and Heath Miller. Max Starks, Chris Kemoeatu and Trai Essex cashed in, too. Here's the potential problem for the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers: Casey Hampton, Jeff Reed, Willie Parker, Brett Keisel and Ryan Clark are assured of one more season's worth of paychecks but no more. By any mathematical standard, the Steelers tossed around a lot of money to re-sign two players -- left tackle Max Starks and left guard Chris Kemoeatu -- from an offensive line that remains, even

by JJ Cooper Filed under: Steelers , AFC North , NFL Free Agency The Steelers had a pretty lengthy to-do list for the offseason, but a little over a day before training camp starts, they've managed to check off nearly every key task. The announcement that tight end Heath Miller has signed a six-year extension worth $35.3 million does a very good job of getting the Steelers ready for training camp....

As a website operator, you gotta be able to track how people find your stuff. That way, you can see what people are Googling to find your site, or if someone sweet is linking to you. It's just part of the game. Lately, I've seen people using a search engine called Bing with more frequency. I have no clue what it is or who runs it, but I do know that Bing sucks. I went to their search engine homepage,...
