The Lions placed veteran linebacker Cody Spencer on injured reserve Tuesday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament that will require surgery and end his season. Spencer, who played under coach Jim Schwartz in 2004-05 when Schwartz was Tennessee's defensive coordinator, provided depth at middle linebacker.

The Lions announced they have placed linebacker Cody Spencer on injured reserve, ending his season. Spencer suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday's exhibition victory over Atlanta.
