More photos » by LM Otero - AP Brandon Mebane is only 24. He excelled at the one tech, but has not as quickly or effectively taken to the three tech. Mebane is signed through 2011 for third-round money. The Seahawks can be patient with his development while improving the talent around him. Browse more photos » This is the part of the week when Brian Burke releases his objective projections and I muddy everything with opinions. Burke projects Seattle as pronounced underdogs. I am aghast to read this. Seattle is a juggernaut just finding its oars. It's a wakened monster about...
More photos » by Ross Franklin - AP Browse more photos » Mebane should have Cole's job. The decision to restructure the line around Colin Cole was stupid when made and has led to predictable results. Seattle's third down stand, in which Tapp knifed through Mike Gandy and tackled Wells in the back field, is a great example of how important Mebane was to Seattle. Mebane was on the right,...
More photos » by Ross Franklin - AP Seattle took an early lead and implemented a smart strategy to defend Kurt Warner. The scheme was right, but the personnel wrong. It has the talent to field an above average pass rushing line, but it needs to sit Colin Cole. Browse more photos » Has Brandon Mebane struggled to transition to the three tech? That is something I will explore deeper this...
by LM Otero - AP I would be surprised if Matt Hasselbeck makes it through this season without missing further time. View full size photo » Here's a final notes roundup for the third quarter and whatever it was that followed. Max Unger struggled playing from behind. Jason Hatcher ran through him with ease and hit Matt Hasselbeck , producing the image we see above. I cringe thinking Nate Burleson...

Browse more photos » Today I finish up with last weekend's game notes. I rewatched the second quarter last night and I had an absolute blast. Here are my notes and highlights. We left off with Seattle pulling...
More photos » by John Froschauer - AP Colin Cole has been as advertised: A still life in pads. Browse more photos » The following covers from when I left off to when Sam Hurd put Dallas up by six. Seattle started the drive with Cory Redding at left defensive tackle. Redding was blown back by a double team, but single-blocked Brandon Mebane sliced behind the blockers bulldozing Redding to...
Seattle LB David Hawthorne played well Sunday at Dallas. Hawthorne had eight tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble. He got help from Ken Lucas (seven tackles), Leroy Hill (five tackles), Aaron Curry (three tackles) and Colin Cole (three tackles, fumble recovery).
When Colin Cole met his wife, Kaye, her knowledge of football was an instant attraction. Now she will put it to good use in Saturday’s “Football 101” workshop.
More photos » by Ted S. Warren - AP Brandon Mebane is athletic enough and skillful enough that he has successfully transitioned to under tackle. But his squatty build and surge off the line make him an ideal over tackle in a Tampa 2 type system. An elite under tackle talent like Ndamukung Suh could move him back to his "natural" position and improve the Seahawks run stuffing and pass...

Seattle's offensive line struggled against a still good Bears defensive line. 49. No one struggled more than Ray Willis . 48. Willis spent much of the quarter crouching, watching his man chase Seneca Wallace . 47. Robert Mathis says "hello"....
Patrick Kerney was getting pressure off the edge, but not consistently. He forced an incomplete on the third play of the game. He clearly isn't Seattle's best defensive linemen or even end anymore. I hope he's amenable to renegotiating his contract this offseason or cool with getting cut. I'd rather Seattle retained Darryl Tapp or Cory Redding over Kerney. Colin Cole had a strong quarter. He disrupted...

This hole? Zombie-Curtis Enis could run through it. How does a running back rush for 80 yards on the first play of the half? How does a team fail to adjust when that same running back broke a 75 yard run in the first half? Seattle didn't really adjust. It was again eight in the box. Kelly Jennings was manning the right end, making Seattle borderline nine in the box. The starters, minus Lofa Tatupu...
One Seahawk did his job, and Lawrence Jackson wasn't enough. Jackson was alone on the right, knocking back pulling left guard David Baas , chipping and disrupting fullback Moran Norris and narrowing Gore's hole to a sliver. The linebackers overpursued and were out of position. Colin Cole was miles in the backfield after completely misreading the play. Red Bryant pursued hard left and abandoned his...
