The funeral of the late Larry Cassidy of Section 25 takes place today in Poulton-le-Fylde, near Blackpool. The news of his death last week hit me pretty hard, not just because the band produced some terrific albums (and their most recent two, Part-Primitiv and Nature+Degree , were among their best), but because for much of my childhood in they more-or-less single-handedly defined what was laughingly...

More photos » Michael Conroy - AP I've never seen a local athlete like Golden Tate. Too bad we have too many other positions to fill. Browse more photos » Just so we're clear: I don't think the Titans should re-do CJ2K's contract quite yet, but I can't blame the kid for saying he wants to get paid. That concern is more relevant at his position than any other, because no RB gets a good contract...

Shannon "Shambo" Waters turned her back on the Galu tribe and aligned herself with Foa Foa after the merge, but her alliance only got her to the final six. Thursday night, after Brett Clouser won individual immunity, Foa Foa turned on her and voted her out at Tribal Council. Now ET talks to the mullet-headed former Marine Sergeant to get her take on the game. ET : There have been a lot of...

Survivor Samoa airs its final Thursday episode tonight, and concludes with a two-hour finale and a one-hour reunion on Sunday. It's time, then, to look at the remaining contestants, and see how they lived up to the strategies they outlined to me pre-season , and how much their likeablity was a predictor of their success. First, my pre-season rankings held up really well. My favorites--Betsy, Russell...

Monica Padilla was the second person booted from last week’s episode of Survivor: Samoa right after Dave Ball was voted off. During a conference call with reporters, Monica discussed her thoughts on Russell, the tough parts of Survivor and revealed who she thinks is the greatest player of all time. Could it be Russell Hantz? [...] Related posts: Survivor: Samoa — Two Tribal Councils Survivor:...

A few photos of a flock of 50+ Lesser Redpolls that were in the MVCP "sewage works plantation", they were also seen later on by Bob Hook near the visitors centre. This is by far the biggest flock I have ever seen on the Country Park, with probably about double the number that was in the next biggest flock I have seen here. If they hang around I'm hoping they might be joined by one (or both...)...

Watch out Eliza — you have some competition when it comes to great facial expressions at Tribal Council. “Danger” Dave Ball’s jaw dropped numerous times on Survivor: Samoa when his own allies were blindsided one after the other — on some instances, it almost looked as if somebody had stabbed him in the stomach. But [...] Related posts: Survivor: Samoa — John Blasts...

“Danger” Dave Ball seemed like a calm and collected cat after being voted out of Survivor: Samoa. No longer! He’s hoping mad! And who’s on the receiving end of his ire? Well, there’s Shambo (whom he calls “deranged”) and John (whom he mercilessly picks apart as a simpleton). But he doesn’t stop there. Next up

At least he saw it coming. After weeks of betrayals and blindsides on Survivor: Samoa, Dave Ball knew early on in last night's episode that his name was being thrown around the campfire (mostly thanks to the Shambo's vision of sending Dave home). However ...

"Survivor: Samoa" was down to its final eight -- Mick Trimming , Jaison Robinson , Russell Hantz , Natalie White , Shambo Waters , Dave Ball , Brett Clouser and Monica Padilla -- on Thursday night's episode, but now there are just six castaways left. In a surprise move, the Aiga tribe was subjected to two Tribal Councils instead of the usual one. First to go was Dave Ball, who talks to ET...

Last night on Survivor: Samoa , 'Danger' Dave Ball, the 38 year old fitness boot camp instructor from Los Angeles, and 25 year old law school grad Monica Padilla joined the jury. They become the fifth and sixth members of the elite advantage club who will choose the one million dollar winner. Dave's elimination was hardly a surprise, though the series tried to keep viewers guessing until the last...

Two people went home in what essentially amounted to two back-to-back half-hour episodes of Survivor that had a hint of excitement but mostly just moved us toward the penultimate episode and the finale by dumping two former members of Galu. Dave Ball went home thanks to Shambo's vision-from-god vendetta toward him, and Monica was voted out next after trying to save herself with a pretty smart but...
