Opportunity doesn't always knock. In the case of Amy and David Pollack, it crashed in their front yard. Almost 10 years ago, Hurricane Floyd uprooted the enormous century-old beech tree that dominated the couple's traditional front lawn in Swarthmore. Today, that same space is a naturalistic landscape of soft lines and sweeping color, with a pond that rocks in spring with the kreek-eek, kreek-eek of...

Gordon Beckham is now adjusting to the White Sox in a big way. During the Chicago White Sox's Monday and Tuesday games, Beckham combined to go 6 of 7 with 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 stolen base. On the season, he's hitting .267 with 2 HR and 13 RBI in 23 games. Considering he started out 2 for 28 (.071) thru his first 8 games , he's doing extremely well to have a .267 average now. Tuesday night he...

Holdouts with the Bengals are nothing new. DE Justin Smith sat out 50 days back in 2001, OLB David Pollack missed all of training camp back in 2005. Now indications are pointing to the Bengals first round pick this year - OL Andre Smith, holding out of training camp. Chick Ludwig of the Dayton [...]

So we started nominating a list of games considered to be the best games by the Bengals since 2006. Why 2006? That was Cincy Jungle's inaugural season. Is there a tougher task to finding the best game over a span in which the Bengals won only 19 of 48 games (.396 winning percentage). It's been a great three years on the site, friends, community and all that, and hopefully we have another three more....

Carson Palmer was on WQXI in Atlanta with former Bengals linebacker David Pollack and Mike Bell to talk about various things. He did talk about losing T.J. Houshmandzadeh: “It’s definitely tough. You all know T.J.s a good locker room guy, he works hard, he’s a good guy for young receivers to watch to see how he takes care of his body and how he prepares for games. So we’re definitely...

According to David Pollack, Kaspar is on waivers. If he clears, he'll go to Worcester (note to Sharks: can't we move the minor league team to some place like Erie that's easier to spell'). honestly, he didn't show me much in his limited play this season, while Brad Staubitz did when they brought him up (think Rob Davison or for you old pharts, Doug Zmolek) with a bit of an edge and a willingness to...

I owe you folks an apology. I saw the recent news about David Pollack joining the broadcast staff at 790 The Zone, gave him a mental ‘attaboy for the gig and didn’t think much more about it. Quite frankly, I blew it. I forgot about the most sensitive fanbase in North America and how it would react [...]

Hobson takes a look at team matchups (not individual) for this weekends home opener against the Tennessee Titans. Five reasons that the Bengals must win Sunday . What's David Pollack up to these days? " I get to talk sports for a couple of hours a day. I'm a fanatic of every sport. I'd watch pingpong if it was on." It could cost Chad ______ (fill in last name here), a lot of money to be...

Of the previous first-round holdouts in recent Bengals history, linebacker David Pollack, tailback Chris Perry and quarterback Akili Smith didn't seem to recover as rookies from the missed days of training camp. But linebacker Keith Rivers, who signed late Tuesday to end a 10-day absence, might be the exception.

From David Pollack at the ‘Working the Corners’ blog, The drumbeat isn’t quieting down when it comes to those Patrick Marleau trade rumors. In fact, the pace is picking up. So let me add this to the mix: An NHL source — not connected with either team — advises that the Sharks and Columbus are indeed close to a deal. San Jose would send Marleau and another player (unspecified)...
