Lions center Dominic Raiola knows what he's up against Sunday when he faces Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers. The Lions drafted them both in the second round in 2001 -- Raiola 50th overall, Rogers 61st. Raiola battled Rogers in practice for seven years, until the Lions traded Rogers in 2008.

The Vikings had three sacks and 13 hurries (compared to one and two for the Lions), but as center Dominic Raiola said: "He's our future. He can handle this stuff."

Last Monday, the day after the Lions' 32-20 loss at Seattle, Dominic Raiola took his customary seat in the center of the offensive line meeting room. That morning, in a show of alliance, goaltender Chris Osgood wore his Lions cap to Red Wings practice.

Since joining the Lions in 2001 as Matt Millen's second overall NFL draft selection (behind offensive tackle Jeff Backus), center Dominic Raiola has never experienced a winning season in Detroit.

The Lions visit the Seahawks this weekend, so it's a given that Wings goaltender Chris Osgood is doing a lot of trash-talking, right? He must have called his buddy, Lions center Dominic Raiola, to brag about how the Seahawks are going to destroy the Lions, right? After all, Osgood has considered himself a die-hard Seahawks fan for years. He said he loved watching Dave Krieg, Shaun Alexander,...

Dominic Raiola is calling out idiots and I'm OK with that.

- I tend to doubt his comments were to protect his teammate, rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford, as much as to vent on fans at Ford Field. What the fans were saying to Stafford was hardly venomous. "I'm open, I'm open." Come on.- Raiola is a good player, who would start for most teams in the National Football League. He is undersized and not necessarily a good drive blocker, but he is athletic...

Let me say this up front: I really like Dominic Raiola. I think, in many ways, the Lions' center epitomizes everything that reasonable fans want from a professional athlete.

by Chris Burke Filed under: Lions Dominic Raiola has played all nine of his NFL seasons in Detroit, never finishing with better than a 7-9 record -- and that streak isn't ending this season. So he's allowed to have some pent-up frustration. He let some of it out Sunday during the Lions ' 17-10 home loss to the previously winless Rams , firing off some choice words at a group of Detroit fans who were...

Brett Favre was leading fourth-quarter drives for the Green Bay Packers the last time the Detroit Lions won a game. Now the Lions are winners again after 19 straight losses, and Favre's leading those last-minute comebacks for the Minnesota Vikings. Neither win was pretty. Both were pretty much priceless. Favre took the Vikings 80 yards in 87 seconds before finding Greg Lewis in the back of the end...
