It's Wednesday night/Thursday morning, which can only mean one thing....... Thursday Night Football picks!!! Packers @ Detroit : Well, what can you say? Detroit has, without doubt, the worst pass defense I've seen in a long time. The Packers meanwhile have probably one of the best overall receiving corps in the league. And to cap it all, they're just finding their running game again. Last time these...

First off, I wanted to wish all our readers here at the Bay Area Sports Journal a happy and safe Thanksgiving and Holiday season. We'll actually get to see a Bay Area team playing on thanksgiving day as the Raiders travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys, but today I wanted to talk some more 49ers. Ever since Sunday's game in which the Niners offense exploded after switching to a more pass friendly, spread-offense,...

Now that the NFL season had begun it’s time to look forward to the most improved NFL team. Most of us are usually interested in the hottest NFL team or the one NFL team we think is going to win it all, but I think being the most improved NFL team is just as exciting as winning a title, because it says that the team is well on its way to getting one. The San Francisco 49ers is a young NFL team...

The week is done, time to shell out some extra credit: Jake Delhomme (Panthers) -- The dude must be a magician or something. How else can you throw less than a 50% completion rate and still convince the coaches next week to place the game on your shoulders again? Even with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in the backfield. Joey Porter (Dolphins) -- 7 tackles, 1 assist and 2 sacks. Mean machine...

I'm sitting here in Seattle at Sea-Tac International Airport waiting for my shuttle bus and I thought I'd roll out a random post for you. Well first, normally I'm a fan of San Francisco International Airport. It's nice looking, easy to get to on BART, and all around an ok experience. My problem with them is their lack of Internet, or more specifically, FREE Internet. I don't travel a ton, but SFO is...

Recap time!! I was exceptionally busy yesterday, denying me the chance to do a recap then and also denying me the chance to check out highlights of some of the games, so I'll just have to quickly go through the weekends action now. Lets get on with it shall we, remembering that I took the Panthers for Thursday night (hate the Panthers) which leaves me 0-1 so far: Colts 17 @ Ravens 15 : The Colts seem...

I mentioned before that I get a press release with some of the positive statistical performances from the day's game. I'm thinking when the 49ers lose we'll call this Hidden Nuggets, since games like this sometimes require fans to look a little deeper for positives. And we can continue our gold miner theme on the site, right? Frank Gore One of the more interesting numbers came from Frank Gore. Gore's...

49ers RB Frank Gore ran seven times for 59 yards in a Week 11 loss to the Packers. While Gore's average was nice, he was helped by one 42-yard rumble. Gore also caught three passes for nine yards and a touchdown.

vs. Well that first thread was pretty crappy to say the least. Aside from one big Frank Gore run, the offense has been absolutely abysmal, thanks in large part to the continued inept play of the offensive line. Very little is actually going right so we might as well open up a new thread. GO NINERS!

The NFL Thursday night schedule kicks off this week with an NFC matchup featuring a pair of teams clinging to post-season hopes. This is “must-win” territory for both the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers. The Bears, at 4-4 on the season, have not traveled well as of late. They sport a dismal mark of 2-7 straight up in their last nine road games and also are 2-7 against the spread in those...
