The Philadelphia Eagles are beaten up, and their roster has taken some big hits. For example: Going into the season, here is what their offensive line was projected to look like: RT Stacy Andrews RG Shawn Andrews C Jamal Jackson LG Todd Herremans LT Jason Peters. But Stacy Andrews, a somewhat big free-agent signing, hasn't materialized. Shawn Andrews went on injured reserve with a bad back, and some...

And week after week, they barely if ever get to the red zone. Whether they score from all big plays on a good day or can't...

More photos » by Matt Rourke - AP Browse more photos » As if losing to the Cowboys at home wasn't bad enough, the Eagles now have a lengthy injury list to deal with during the coming week. Probably the most worrisome loss is that of weakside linebacker Akeem Jordan , who suffered a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise. The Eagles have had a very rough season at linebacker so far, and with...

It is obvious Jeremiah Trotter's value as a football player has diminished. At 32, the four-time Pro Bowler no longer can move the way he once did, and his return to the Eagles has made us wonder why the team and the player felt his comeback could be a success.

JEREMIAH TROTTER was not unhappy to see the Eagles trade for Will Witherspoon, Trotter said after yesterday's practice, Witherspoon's first as the Birds' starting middle linebacker.

by Bruce Ciskie Filed under: Eagles , Rams The Philadelphia Eagles have been battling depth issues at linebacker all season. Starting middle linebacker Stewart Bradley was lost in training camp, and things got so bad that former Eagle Jeremiah Trotter was brought back. Trotter was awful against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, and head coach Andy Reid apparently has seen enough. Tuesday, as the NFL's usually...

I've bashed on the Raiders long enough -- about JaMarcus Russell, about Al Davis, about, well, almost anything. And I honestly thought that the Raiders would fall to the Eagles by three touchdowns. Boy, was I wrong. First, the Raiders came to play. Their defense dazzled the Eagles' overmatched offensive line all day, with Donovan McNabb getting hit more than your average pinata on Cinco de Mayo. To...

"I have to do a better job reading and reacting," the linebacker says after his second game back. There will be many questions for the Eagles after yesterday's disappointing 13-9 loss to the Raiders, but the one that will probably be asked in a variety of ways and for a variety of reasons is: Why was Jeremiah Trotter on the field? Eagles coach Andy Reid had a legitimate answer for why the...

OAKLAND - It wasn't rust or age or a balky knee, Jeremiah Trotter said. Just a well-designed, well-executed play fake.

Did you notice . . . -- Middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter started and played 16 of 43 snaps in the first half, all on first down or short-yardage. He only played three snaps in the second half.

For someone who had spent the last 1 1/2 years sitting around the house, Jeremiah Trotter did just fine yesterday in his comeback with the Eagles. While he is still very much a work-in-progress at this point, "The Ax Man" achieved exactly what coach Andy Reid had hoped he would: a good performance that gave his fans hope there could be something to build on in the weeks ahead.

Today marked my first time ever visiting Lincoln Financial Field to watch the Eagles play. Here are some observations: 1. NFL Fans Have Created a Tribal Culture All to Themselves . I asked a bunch of people how early I'd have to leave the house to get decent parking near the Linc, and each said to drive into Center City (that's downtown Philadelphia for the uninitiated), park there, and take the Broad...
