Dave and I had planned to go out looking for owls and do the valley justice but that was knocked on the head with low lying mist so we chose to brew up and chew the cud overlooking the grassy fields. We were discussing whether to knock mothing on the head this year as our catches are low when a Long-eared Owl came out of the gloom – saw us then drifted back in to the mist. As we are always saying...

SAN LUIS OBISPO Both teams are led by quarterbacks named Smith. And their respective college programs will go as far as these juniors can take them by ground, by air, with poise, with precision. Jason Smith is the third-year man for Sacramento State who is trying to make the Hornets relevant and competitive again. Last season's 6-6 finish was encouraging after some dreadfully down years....

I've just heard from Jon Hall at VMware that it will be possible to take the Enterprise Administration or Design exams for VCDX at VMWorld in San Francisco later this month, as well as the VCP on vSphere 4 exam. You still have to be registered with VMware for the VCDX program, that will pre-authorize you for taking the exam. http://communities.vmware.com/thread/222194 If you're going to VMWorld, enjoy...

via ESPN Why doesn't Chiefs head coach Todd Haley have any memories of Arrowhead Stadium the last few months? Because he's never been inside the stadium since taking the job on February 6th. "I’ve not been in it yet. I’m saving that. I didn’t want to intentionally. I’m saving that for Saturday." More Arrowhead memories after the jump. Here's the full Q&A with video...

Jon Hall uses data available from ad traffic estimators to mine online data: This data has obvious utility to advertisers. But as Facebook’s enrollment grows to encompass effectively everyone and the company offers increasingly granular targeting filters — as of mid-July, advertisers can target users on their birthday! — the estimator tool itself may become a [...]

I swapped emails with Jon Hall this evening, Jon is a Technical Certification Developer at VMware - in other words, he's the guys that writes the VCP and VCDX exams! I asked Jon what the implications are on VCDX on the release of vSphere 4, and this was his reply: "Just as we have announced a new exam and an upgrade path for existing VCP on VI3s who want to upgrade to VCP on vSphere 4, we intend...

Recommended The Movie: The vagaries of the film going audience are spectacularly fickle. Take, for example, Miss Maria Montez. Dubbed "The Queen of Technicolor," and pretty much solely responsible for filling Universal's coffers with bucket loads of moolah in the 1940s, she's largely forgotten today, a camp relic confined to lovers of kitsch and Hollywood's penchant for faux "exotica."...
