More photos » by Darron Cummings - AP Farewell, guy. We knew you less well than you knew the system. Browse more photos » One final note before I excuse myself this blustery Friday evening. I will post notes for the third and fourth quarter tomorrow. I wonder sometimes when a player is cut - what was the play that put them over the edge? What did Edgerrin James do that ended his Seahawks...

More photos » by Donna McWilliam - AP After the tricks had failed, Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch proved talent alone can still win. Browse more photos » Seattle started the drive with Edgerrin James in the backfield. He stumbled for one yard and then wasted the concerted push-left of the offensive line punctuated by a clean and well timed trap block by Rob Sims . It's moments like this...

The drive never recovered from its first big attempt. Matt Hasselbeck targeted John Carlson and nearly threw an interception to Gerald Sensabaugh . Justin Griffith motioned out of right trips to fullback and Julius Jones picked his way up the middle for ten. Part of Griffith's value is that he guides Jones where to rush. On a previous run I didn't detail, Griffith and Jones started slight-right, but...

Seahawks coach Jim Mora said RB Justin Griffith will start Sunday vs. the Cardinals. Owen Schmitt has started in Griffith's place since Week 3. "Justin helps because of familiarity with the scheme. He has years of experience running (our) scheme that Owen doesn't have yet," Mora said.

Between bursts of self-assault, Owen Schmitt occasionally plays fullback. Not that I don't find a man hitting himself in the head entertaining, but I thought we could take a break from analyzing the patterns of his blood spatters to watch him play football. Watching athletes play sports is an increasingly novel concept. I am awaiting the day ESPN does to its sports coverage what MTV has done with music...

I would say "Bucs steal one from Ruskell", but Bennett was waived outright and bound to be given a shot by somebody . The Buccaneers are continuing to look for ways to upgrade their pass rush and claimed rookie defensive end Michael Bennett off waivers from Seattle on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 274-pound Bennett was waived on October 11 to make room for defensive tackle Kyle Williams after signing...

The Seattle Times is reporting that Matt Hasselbeck, Josh Wilson , and Justin Griffith are probable for Sunday's game versus Jacksonville, which means a "virtual certainty" that they'll play. Thank you! Please stay healthy Matt, I don't think I could handle Seneca for any further games. Josh Wilson is also a godsend. No more Travis Fisher ! Should we plug him back in at KR or take a lesson...

Patrick Kerney likely being out next week would not usually classify as lesser news, but Kerney is at the tail-end of his career and the team benefits from the excuse to start Darryl Tapp . That was one of the tidbits detailed by Danny O'Neil following Jim Mora's press conference, along with the release of Kyle Williams, the re-signing of Justin Griffith and a conveniently tentative but hopeful update...
