(By David Scott, dscott@charlotteobserver.com) This has not been a good month to be a Carolina Panthers linebacker. Season-ending injuries to Thomas Davis and backup Landon Johnson have put a strain on the depth - and now strongside starter Na'il Diggs might miss Sunday's game against the Jets with injured ribs.

If you were taken off guard by the Panthers roster move earlier today so was I. I think the Panthers kept the severity of Johnsons injury under wraps until they could locate a replacement. It seems I recall him going out against the Dolphins but never heard anything else about it. The Panthers filled his roster spot with LB Jordan Senn , formerly with the Colts . We can feel safe to assume Ron Meeks...

The Carolina Panthers have lost another linebacker to a season-ending knee injury. The team placed Landon Johnson on injured reserve Tuesday and signed linebacker Jordan Senn . Johnson hurt his medial collateral ligament in Thursday's loss to Miami in his second start at weakside linebacker after Thomas Davis was lost for the season. Johnson's injury leaves James Anderson as the likely starter Sunday...

After we put a whuppin' on the Panthers earlier this season, you can bet they're going to want to return the favor in this one. With talented linebacker Thomas Davis gone for the year and noted Atlanta Falcon enemy DeAngelo Williams questionable, however, there are some holes we can exploit....

While the Arizona Cardinals still have some players battling through some nagging injuries they are still in a much better situation than most teams in the league seven weeks into the season. The team had just three players who sat out of yesterday's practice, but Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was able to participate in the full practice. DRC, who estimated himself at about 85%, said that he was surprised...

The Carolina Panthers will be without their leading tackler today. OLB Thomas Davis is inactive for today’s game with a hamstring injury. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Landon Johnson.

Leading Panthers tackler LB Thomas Davis leaves big shoes to fill for today's game against the Bills . From Darin Gantt: #Panthers inactives: LB Thomas Davis, FB Hoover, 3rd QB Feeley, RB Sutton, OLs Williams and Robinson, DT Hayden, S Lewis. I thought James Anderson would get the start, but I was wrong: Landon Johnson 's going to start for Thomas Davis. Like I said, nobody on the roster has Davis'...

The Carolina Panthers will be without starting linebacker Na'il Diggs and likely three other key players for their game at Dallas. Diggs was declared out for the Monday night game after missing his third straight practice Saturday with bruised ribs. Starting strong safety Chris Harris, top fullback Brad Hoover and defensive end Everette Brown also missed practice and are listed as doubtful. Landon...

I know some of you have already posted roster predictions but now that final cut downs are upon us its time to see who can actually predict who will actually make the Panthers 53 man roster for the season opener. When the preseason marches towards a welcomed conclusion, discussion and debate takes place on who the team cuts and keeps. Sometimes the topic goes into salary cap causalities; veterans that are cut, like Willie Anderson and Rudi Johnson last year. Other times, the debate talks about players that surprisingly make the roster. As jsl413 broke down, the Bengals depth is strong in some areas , weak in...

I got a sense that local high school football fans started taking Southport seriously when it beat traditional power Bloomington South 48-21 in the season's fifth week last September. The one play that sticks in my mind from that night was Southport's Joe Gilliam absolutely laying out a Bloomington South receiver going over the middle during the fourth quarter. I'm still not sure how the South receiver...

Recently, the Panthers have had one of the deepest LB corps in the league, full of guys with speed and ability. It's clear that the team values the position, as they've not only had up to eight roster spots used on the position (nine if LS Jason Kyle is counted), but also have shown they're willing to pick up talent there even if the depth chart has them blocked initially. Both Jon Beason and Dan Connor...
