Notebook: Larry Foote: I'd love to retire as a Lion

The Lions and linebacker Larry Foote have not discussed a contract extension. They're 1-5, and it's early yet. But Foote would like to get something done at some point. "Which player wouldn't want an extension?" Foote said Thursday, smiling.

Friday Notes: Calvin Johnson Returns to Practice

My confidence level in a Lions victory over the Rams has changed quite a bit this week. On Monday, with there still being no word on the status of Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson , I was predicting a Lions victory, but there wasn't a ton of confidence behind that. After Tuesday, I started to gain more confidence after learning that Stafford had returned to practice. My confidence grew even more...

Rams and Lions both Hungry for Win

The bye week came at a good time for Detroit’s banged up players. The week off gave more time to heal for Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Larry Foote, Daunte Culpepper and a host of other Lions players. Who does what in practice over the next few days will be an indication of who [...]

Larry Foote hopes for turnaround after bye

Lions linebacker Larry Foote hasn't seen his team at the bottom of the league often, but he has seen it before. In 2003, his second year with Pittsburgh, the Steelers went 6-10. Much like the Lions' 1-5 start this season, the Steelers were 2-4 before their bye week.

Steelers: Foote still one of us

Linebacker Larry Foote spent seven years with the Steelers before signing with the Lions in the off-season, and he had some fun with his former teammates over the weekend. Foote had some of them over to his house for dinner Saturday night. During Sunday's game, at least a couple of them celebrated big plays by doing his patented Foote Stomp. Foote visited the Steelers' locker room...

Lions' Foote played in Pittsburgh, but Detroit is his city

Forgive Larry Foote if he feels a little disoriented today. He spent his first seven seasons in Pittsburgh. He won two Super Bowls with the Steelers. This is going to be weird, facing them at Ford Field.

Friday Notes: Schwartz to Name Starting QB Before Game on Sunday

Jim Schwartz is going to wait to name a starting quarterback until right before the game on Sunday. Matthew Stafford did practice today , but if I were to bet on it, I'd put my money on Daunte Culpepper getting the start. Expect to see DeAndre Levy in the starting lineup on Sunday. We don't know who he will be replacing, but speculation suggests Julian Peterson will move to defensive end, opening up...
