via www.abc.net.au View full size photo uploaded June 30, 2009 Let's face it. Laurence Maroney has gotten a bad rap during his career at New England. I would say some of it is deserved. I have complained often that Maroney "bounces" off of the line when he should be more decisive, similar to Sammy Morris . However, when he's been asked, he's delivered the goods as he did with four 100+ yard...

Despite media reports hinting at the contrary, the New England Patriots also were in NFL compliance with their billing of running back Laurence Maroney's 2008 shoulder injury. Upset about critics questioning his toughness, Maroney recently told the Boston Globe that he suffered a "broken bone" in the second game. He continued to try and play until ultimately landing on injured reserve after...

According to the Providence Journal , Patriots RB Kevin Faulk said teammate Laurence Maroney can still be successful despite a down year in 2008. "L is always going to be L. He's always going to keep his head up," Faulk said about Maroney. "But we tell him, 'You can't do anything about what people say about you. All you can do is control what you can do.'"

TOP SHOTS Paul Perillo says Gary Guyton will be an important part of the 2009 Pats defense . His speed and athleticism are necessary ingredients in the Patriots sub packages and he’ll likely be asked to serve in that capacity once again. He has the ability to cover backs out of the backfield and his speed allows him to get from sideline to sideline in the underneath zones, an area where the team...

The Boston Globe reports Patriots special teams coach Scott O'Brien hinted that the team could use RB Laurence Maroney , coming back from a broken bone in his shoulder, as a kickoff returner this year. "Anybody on the team is a potential option," said O'Brien. "It's what fits the team the best at the time. The better the options you have, the better you'll be. We'll get him going back...

by Ryan Wilson Filed under: Patriots , AFC East , NFL Injuries I've often argued -- unoriginally -- that, in general, NFL teams should avoid using first-round picks on running backs. Salary-cap friendly alternatives can often be found later in the draft, and other, harder-to-address needs -- like offensive line or wide receiver -- can be targeted in the early rounds. There are exceptions: most recently...
