Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans : 5 Keys to Victory

More photos » by Wade Payne - AP You see that guy #80 is sitting on? Since he's not playing, we already have a better chance in winning than last time. Browse more photos » Be inVINCEable. I know the Texans fans hate it, but Vince really has something in him that makes his teams win. Jimmy said he'll never lose in Houston, and so far so good, but we'll see. Vince just needs to continue...

Did Harbaugh run it up? Should we care??

More photos » by Matt Sayles - AP Browse more photos » Short answer...Well, yeah of course he did and no, I don't care. I am not in charge of any coaches ethics on the field or on the court. That is their baggage to carry. No team is completely immune to running it up. Don't be fooled, somewhere in any teams history there is evidence of running it up. Do you care? Does it really matter?...

Deep thought: Would a better #2 running back have made a difference for the Rams?

More photos » by Tom Gannam - AP St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson could use an intern. Browse more photos » A deep thought... Taking nothing away from the otherwordly Steven Jackson, but how much would a solid #2 RB have helped the Rams yesterday...and beyond? Besides the obvious concern of not wanting to completly exhuast Jackson, it seems to me, that another competent runner...

Chris Johnson Success Rate Against Buffalo

by Wade Payne - AP View full size photo » Explanation: Each individual rush is considered on it's own, and measured by it's "success." A run is considered successful if it gets 40% of the yardage needed to move the chains on first down, 60% of the yardage needed on second down, and 100% of the yardage needed on third or fourth down. This is a much more accurate overall picture of how...

Change of Pace: USC Rushing Yards & Featured Backs, 2001 - 2009

I don't know about you, dear readers, but I've had just about as much as I care to read about epochal shifts, historic beatdowns, and the like. Shit, it's so bad Plaschke almost wrote a couple of paragraphs with more than two sentences yesterday. That's baaaaaaaaaaaad. So. As we've been hashing over the offensive lacunae of this season, there's been some speculation that part of the problem is the...

Tennessee Titans @ San Francisco 49ers : 5 Keys to Victory

by Wade Payne - AP View full size photo » Run the ball. We have to see if Chris Johnson can get anything against this great 49ers defense that allows only 85 yards per game on the ground. If anyone can do it, the leading rusher in the NFL can. Running the ball will also keep the pressure off Vince Young in his second start in two years. The Titans will be much better off relying on Chris Johnson...
