Have you thought about what a huge, devastating defeat that would be for the Texans? This probably isn't the biggest game they've ever played if they win it. If they win, the next one will be bigger and the one after that will be bigger and on and on. The Texans have left themselves little margin for error, so they absolutely, positively must win the Tennessee, Seattle and St. Louis games to stay...

Mario Williams has already earned the nickname "Super Mario" among Houston Texans fans. If he continues the dominance he's shown in his first two night games against the Titans this Monday, a more apt moniker might the one Deion Sanders favored in his 14-year NFL career. Just call Williams "Prime Time." The top overall draft pick in 2006 has had the two best games of his four-year...

The Texans are slightly more than halfway through with the 2009 (regular) season, so let's take inventory of what we've seen. Through nine games, who has been the most outstanding defensive player for your Houston Texans ? Note that I said "most outstanding" as opposed to "most valuable." In other words, who's been the absolute best on that side of the ball so far? Vote in the poll...

When you look at the numbers, it's hard to imagine the Texans are a winning team. To think they're a few plays away from being 7-1 is amazing when you look at the numbers, penalties and running game. Anyway, all the numbers do is give Gary Kubiak and his staff a good working list for the bye week. Let's go to the big board: The Texans are 15th in scoring offense and 14th in scoring defense....

As that record indicates, the Colts have regularly dismembered the eight year old franchise en route to multiple AFC South championships. More photos » by David Duprey - AP Browse more photos » Well, it took a while coming, but the Buffalo Bills ran into a team that refused to sink into mediocrity for an entire game. The Houston Texans shot themselves in the foot for the entirety of the first half, but during halftime, someone in their locker room said something to the effect of, "Hey, we're better than this." Sadly,...

Maybe we'll look back and see that Gary Kubiak knew what he was doing all along. Maybe we'll recognize that he was never the problem, that he was always a really good NFL coach. Now that he has better players it's easy to see. One thing that has impressed me from day one is that there's no phony in Gary Kubiak. What you see is what you get. He's blunt in his post-game assessments, both good and bad....

Looking back on it now, it's easy to say that Vince Young wasn't the best player of the 2006 NFL draft and that the Texans got it right in selecting Mario Williams. There's just one problem with this kind of thinking. It's completely wrong. It defies logic. Let me tell you a little secret. If Leslie Alexander or Drayton McLane had owned the Texans that spring, they would have ordered their people...
