The Chargers gave him jersey No. 1. It could stand for Louie Sakoda's one chance in, say, a half-million of beating out Nate Kaeding and/or Mike Scifres. By no means is that a slam at Sakoda, a rare talent indeed, a special-teams guy who was a consensus first-team All-American as both a placekicker (2008) and punter ('07) at Utah.

Chargers K Nate Kaeding made a 42-yard field goal and had three extra points Sunday in a Divisional Playoff game at Pittsburgh. He missed some practice time with a groin injury leading up to the game.

Kaeding sits out of practice

Chargers K Nate Kaeding was able to practice in full on Wednesday but sat out of practice on Thursday as a precautionary measure. Kaeding hit a clutch 26-yard field goal late in last week's game against the Colts that sent the game into overtime.
