Last year, it was Steven Jackson. The year before, Marc Bulger . This year, we're keeping an eye on the contract situation of Rams FS OJ Atogwe. For the ballhawking safety, the situation is a little different. The Rams used the franchise tag to retain Atogwe's services, with the intention of negotiating a long term contract in the very near future. OJ, however, has yet to sign the franchise offer -...

NFC West leads the league in signing 2009 draft picks The Rams are the only team in the NFC West with none of their 2009 draft picks under contract. 11 of 29 picks for the four division teams have signed deals; however, no player signed thus far was drafted higher than the fifth round. Does anyone besides Rams FS OJ Atogwe understand why he hasn't signed his franchise tender...worth a cool $6.342 million? He says he's holding out for a long-term contract, telling ESPN's MIke Sando that this move keeps both the one year and the long term options on the table. Here's Atogwe: Me having not signed the tag yet is not saying I don't want to be here with the Rams. It is just saying my contract...

The dust is starting to settle on the draft, but plenty of questions remain unanswered for the Rams. Will O.J. Atogwe be a Ram in 2010? There's been some consternation over the future of Rams FS O.J. Atogwe, who the team franchised this year. Devaney is on the record stating that the team will try and work out a long-term deal for the playmaker this season. Who knows when to expect that; they've got...

As expected the Rams used the franchise tag to keep FS O.J. Atogwe for the season. According to the report, the team was trying to hammer out a long term deal, thus taking the decision down to the wire. They'll continue to work on a deal, which would also be a good move. Atogwe can be a cornerstone of the defense for years to come, and if he improves his coverage work a little bit, he'll be truly among...

Well, O.J. Atogwe has been hit with the franchise tag- taking away the consolation prize many Phin Phans had hoped to land after Dansby got tagged. We were taunted, and teased with rumors he was unlikely to be hit with the franchise tag, only to have the chair pulled out from under us at the last minute. But what is better than picking up a playmaking young safety in free agency? Drafting one, of course!...

The Rams, really, only have one player they'll consider using the franchise tag on, safety O.J. Atogwe . Obviously, this is a no-brainer, with so few players under contract in the secondary, they'll want to hang on to ball hawking Atogwe. The franchise tag would give Atogwe a salary of $6.34 million, all of which would count against the cap. Another player that the Rams might consider using a transition...
