It was an entertaining day in the NFL yesterday, and I ended up gaining $10. The Ravens just could not get the ball in the end zone and Flacco ’s pick at the end of the game lost it. I’ll take a push on that game, but I think I should have won. The Chargers did just as I said and dominated the Broncos. I like when bad teams get off to good starts because their lines are artificially inflated...

More photos » by Wade Payne - AP You see that guy #80 is sitting on? Since he's not playing, we already have a better chance in winning than last time. Browse more photos » Be inVINCEable. I know the Texans fans hate it, but Vince really has something in him that makes his teams win. Jimmy said he'll never lose in Houston, and so far so good, but we'll see. Vince just needs to continue...

Oddly enough, the winter is when our citrus ripens, we find that we get more fruit than we can say grace over each year. So, we pawn it off on friends and juice what we have room to freeze, then we either eat the rest - or make fresh juice. You know, now that we think on it - our growing season is all off-kilter from our consuming season. Okra peaks in the summer, but, it is too damn hot to eat gumbo...

Regular reader Edward was nice enough to comment on a recent post in which he posed me three interesting questions. Here goes: Am I going to jinx the Badgers by going to Evanston next weekend to watch them (Badgers at Northwestern is always both exciting and terrible)? Yes, Edward, you are. I thought about seeing if NU had tickets available for the game, since it's an easy drive for me and my wife...

When the Texans return from their bye with a game against Tennessee next Monday night, they hope to have versatile rookie TE James Casey back to contribute at the position after arthroscopic knee surgery. Casey is expected to help Joel Dreessen and Anthony Hill fill in the hole left behind from Owen Daniels ' season-ending knee surgery. Casey has appeared in all but one game this season and has become...

Let's turn our attention to the other side of the ball. Through nine games, who has been the most outstanding offensive player for your Houston Texans ? Once again, note that I said "most outstanding" as opposed to "most valuable." In other words, who's been the absolute best on that side of the ball so far? The " Brian Cushing of the Offense ," if you will? Vote in the...

Bears TE Greg Olsen finds himself with a good matchup, albeit on short rest, in Week 10. He and his teammates will take on the 49ers on Thursday as part of Week 10 action. The Niners' secondary was decent vs. Vince Young and the run-wielding Titans last week but have allowed three-straight 100-yard receivers in the three games prior, including a 100-yard game to tight end Owen Daniels in Week 7 and...

Lots of new faces on the midseason All-Pro team, and lots of tough choices. Hard to leave off Adrian Peterson, because I believe he's the best running back in football, hands down. Hard to leave off defensive end Trent Cole of the Eagles, middle linebacker Curtis Lofton of the Falcons and Owen Daniels of the Texans, too; Daniels had six terrific games before going out for the season. But I tried to...

Almost a full day later, it still hurts . If you're a believer in moral victories, yesterday's loss in Indianapolis probably counts as a moral victory. If you're like me, moral victories do very little for you eight (8) years in. Still, there's a lot to like from what we saw yesterday against the Colts , and your Houston Texans nearly beat an undefeated team (perhaps the best team in the NFL right...

''I'm just disappointed for those guys in there. They laid it on the line for each other. I feel bad for them. They deserved a carrot at the end of the day. They played hard enough to get it done. We'll come back battling for our last seven and keep working.'' —Gary Kubiak This game verified that the Texans have a chance to be a really, really good football team. To survive that terrible start,...

As expected, Texans WR Kevin Walter saw a bump in production with TE Owen Daniels out for the year with his five-catch, 67-yard performance at Indianapolis in Week 9.

HOUSTON – Steve Slaton scored two touchdowns and the Houston Texans built a big lead before holding on for a 24-21 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Texans led 21-0 at halftime, then withstood a rally led by backup quarterback Alex Smith. Eugene Wilson's interception on fourth down halted the 49ers' last-gasp drive. San Francisco (3-3) benched Shaun Hill after a terrible first half, and...
