Anthony Henry said he had never been benched in his life -- not in high school, not in college, not in the 122 NFL games he had played before Sunday. So even though he knew he had been playing poorly, he was surprised when Phillip Buchanon came in to replace him at cornerback in the second quarter of the Lions' 28-20 loss to Pittsburgh.

Lions cornerback Phillip Buchanon had two interceptions last season with Tampa Bay. The first came in the season opener at New Orleans against quarterback Drew Brees. Buchanon ran it back 26 yards for a touchdown.

What did we learn from the Lions' 18-17 exhibition victory Saturday over the Indianapolis Colts? A lot, and then again, not so much. It's still an exhibition, as you could tell by the sideline watchers, such as key Lions like kicker Jason Hanson, linebacker Ernie Sims and starting cornerbacks Phillip Buchanon and Anthony Henry -- plus 11 Colts.

Exhibition or regular season, Detroit or Indianapolis, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning picks apart the Lions. Manning did it again Saturday in the Lions' 18-17 exhibition victory at Ford Field, going 12-for-15 for 123 yards and a touchdown in little more than a half of work, with the Lions missing starting cornerbacks Phillip Buchanon (neck) and Anthony Henry (shoulder).
