John McClain of the Houston Chronicle was nice enough to answer a couple of questions I sent him yesterday about the Texans run defense and how they plan to stop Chris Johnson: MCM: The Texans defense has been really good against the run in the last month. What changes have they made? JM: They allowed 205 (average) yards rushing in the first three games and 60.5 in the last six. The turnaround happened...

The offense has looked better this season. The defense most definitely hadn't. Qualify the victory however you want, but give me those qualifications every day of the week over the suicide watch that would have surely accompanied a loss. 2-2 is exponentially better than 1-3, so we should probably keep a positive outlook. Quick thoughts on the game: 1. I'm going to lead with Brian Cushing because he...

The Chronicle says that it looks like Antonio Smith is being punished for being late to meetings: Defensive end Antonio Smith didn’t start the Tennessee game as punishment for being late to meetings. Tim Bulman took his place. “Antonio had a couple of issues with responsibil-ities as far as the team, and so I started [...]

Great discussion last week on the possible composition of the 53-man roster started by Texas-Brocos. Here's my take with a little bit of background. Last year, the Texans ' opening roster consisted of: 2 QBs 3 RBs 1 FB 5 WRs 3 TEs 5 OTs 5 Gs (1 C/G) 1 C 3 Special Teamers (P, K, LS) 6 DEs 5 DTs 6 LBs 4 CBs 5 Ss I think it's reasonable to believe the 2009 roster will be similarly composed. After last...

More photos » by Ted S. Warren - AP Browse more photos » Unfortunately, it was a pretty rough night for the Texans while they visited Kansas City. Injuries specifically mentioned by Gary Kubiak in the Sunday afternoon presser include: Joel Dreesen out a couple of days with a hyper-extended knee, and if you saw the hit, you aren't surprised. And if you're a Longhorn fan (as you should be,...

by Stephanie Stradley Filed under: Texans , AFC South , FanHouse Exclusive HOUSTON -- The biggest question mark in the offeseason for the Houston Texans is whether they can fix their abysmal defense . Texans DE Tim Bulman has played for new defensive coordinator Frank Bush for longer than any other player on the team as they were together with the Cardinals. Bulman's a good interview, and not just...

With all these questions about new deals for players springing up, and with contract negotiations dominating our attention as Texans fans, I decided to do a quick cap preview for the next 4 years, using InTheBullseye.com , Rotoworld.com , and pulling numbers out of my ass to acquire data to analyze. This examines the hypothetical future for our Houston Texans under new deals for our big name players...

Gather around, children, and listen to a story that will warm your heart and soothe your soul. When I’m done, you’ll swear Texans defensive end Tim Bulman isn’t real.

Stanley McClover has impressed coaches in his week with the Texans. At the beginning of this week, they were trying to decide between Earl Cochran and Tim Bulman for the defensive end spot behind N.D. Kalu. But on Sunday morning, the Texans announced both Bulman and Cochran would be inactive and that McClover would be in uniform. As first impressions go, he couldn't have made a much better one. Thirty...

About the most pressing need the Texans have had is a pass-rushing defensive end to line up opposite Mario Williams. They were unable to fill that hole in either the draft or free agency. As it turns out, they're cautiously hopeful he was on their roster all along. Tim Bulman has played just 10 games in three NFL seasons. He has been released three times--twice by the Cardinals and once by the Texans....
