Hi. How are you? My name’s Elliot, and I’m with the Cub Scouts of America. We’re… we’re selling uncut cocaine to get to the jamboree. – Elliot Quentin Tarantino penned the script for True Romance for director Tony Scott. I heard about this movie, because when I saw the IMDb page of Inglourious Basterds. He made one [...]

If you're familiar with the name of Carl Rinsch at all, it's probably because he was briefly attached to direct the ALIEN prequel (before Fox apparently decided otherwise). But now Rinsch, an accomplished commercial director with ties to Ridley and Tony Scott, has a new project on his plate: Universal's big-budget period project 47 RONIN. Keanu Reeves is going to be one of those Ronin in the epic...

Variety reports that Universal Pictures is near a deal with Carl Eric Rinsch to make his feature directing debut on 47 Ronin , the epic period samurai swordsmen tale that will star Keanu Reeves. Rinsch, who shoots commercials for RSA, has been on Hollywood's radar. RSA-owners Ridley and Tony Scott previously had discussions with Rinsch to direct the Alien prequel until Ridley Scott decided to return...

2012 ! They blowed up real good! Mrs. Skippy and I saw the Roland Emmerich disaster flick yesterday, and I can definitely recommend it, with two caveats: Suspend your Disbelief Willingly and Completely, and Check your Brain at the Door. It's cheesy, it's full of cliches, it's not ever going to win any awards for writing, acting, plot or logic (let alone science), but it's got the best disaster special...

A tour of Bill Gates’ mansion in Medina is going for a hefty price tag. The bid to tour his house (and have him guide you around) is up to $35,000. Last year, the tour sold for $8,600, the Seattle PI is reporting. But before you run out to start bidding, it’s only available to those who work at Microsoft as part of its annual charitable giving campaign. According to the Seattle PI, word...

Oscar winning A-list actor Denzel Washington is taking a chance at a crucial stage of his leading man career, leaving behind the crappy Tony Scott action films and their big paychecks for a low-paying/high prestige job on Broadway. He'll star...

DENZEL Washington is to return to Broadway in a revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning August Wilson play Fences . The actor will play Maxson family patriarch Troy in a role that was originated by James Earl Jones. He will begin rehearsing in February for an April opening, before toplining the production for 14-weeks through to mid-July 2010. Washington has previously played Brutus in a Broadway adaptation...

For many years, Microsoft has used the phrase "eating our own dog food" -- shorthanded as "dogfooding" -- to describe the practice of rolling out new software to its employees first, theoretically letting them experience and report problems to ultimately improve the public release. Tony Scott, the executive in charge of Microsoft's internal technology systems, had no problem with...

Just because a film is a remake – or perhaps a movie based on a book that was already made into a movie – doesn't mean the film is destined to fail. To be less cryptic, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009), directed by Tony Scott may not be a brilliant film (or terribly original), but it is a pretty exciting way to spend two hours. Featuring a star-packed cast led by Denzel Washington and...

I was amused at how chief N.Y. Times critics Tony Scott and Manohla Dargis gave the task of reviewing Chris Smith's Collapse (which opens today in Manhattan) not to second-stringer Stephen Holden but third-stringer Jeanette Catsoulis. It's only the scariest and most riveting doc of the year -- a theoretical portrait of the world's end that will suck the air out of whatever room you happen to be sitting...

The biggest DVD and Blu-ray release for this week is probably G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It pains me to know that this week some brave souls will give it another chance, while others will discover its sheer idiocy for the first time. If you're looking for something slightly better but still mediocre, you might try Tony Scott's remake of The Taking of Pelham 123. Other smaller releases for the week...

The Taking of Pelham 123, this reincarnation of the original 1974 film directed by Tony Scott, kicks off on the right foot during the beginning and middle parts but then falls apart due to some of the worst script decisions imaginable.
