Joe has made it abuntantly clear he is not a BSPN-kinda guy (though Jenny Dell has somewhat opened his mind). One of the reasons Joe hates BSPN is the agenda those clowns always have, and always pound the same half-dozen teams down a viewer’s throat. So Joe generally stopped watching years ago, sans for college football [...]

Trent Dilfer once threw in Josh Freeman's shoes, and the ESPN analyst says the rookie QB should remain on the sidelines for now because the Bucs are in too much disarray.

How many songs can I sing with Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer in the lyrics? Many, as the Brett Favre fans at the pole found out yesterday. Gotta give it up for the do-rag though, he was a good sport aboot it. Has anyone here mentioned my exceptional pool playing abilities? Been a while since I blogged about silencing an entire bar with incredible shot after incredible shot. Victory is mine, Godfather....

Rocky days for Trent Dilfer . Gone were the feel good months from the end of 1996 through the end of 1997. He started to show his true colors in the '98 season, and by '99 he was downright riot-worthy for the Bucs defense. Dilfer was benched after this game, in which he overthrew a wide open Warrick Dunn in the endzone. Fans Booed relentlessly, and Dungy pulled the plug.

Just wanted to point you to my latest Yahoo column about Tim Tebow, comparing him to Trent Dilfer and extolling the virtues of the QB as "game manager." Hopefully, it makes you think differently about Tebow -- as different as the new context he's playing in. Check it out here . -- D.S.

Read the post below (or check out TimTeblog ) for my take on Tebow's return last night. But needless to say, the real story of the game is how jaw-droppingly good Florida's defense was/is. Last night's game affirmed the Gators are the favorite to win the national title because of their D -- not unlike the Ravens winning the 2000 Super Bowl: Amazing D, "game-manager" QB. (Yes, I just compared...

To make a FG, simply kick the ball through the ...uprights? View full size photo uploaded October 8, 2009 The Bucs in 1995 were probably the best team of all the 14 straight years of losing seasons. They finished 1994 4-1, and managed to take '95 to 5-2, so for awhile there, the Bucs were 9-3 in their last 12 games. But it was all smoke and mirrors. They won on a play here and a play there. Tony Dungy's second year, and the Bucs started out 5-0, the way he envisioned his team starting in his first season. But they weren't ready then, yet in 1997, the first year of Pewter Power, the Bucs took their show on the road to Green Bay, and after spotting the Packers a 21-3 lead, came back in the second half to make the game close. Check out an interception off Trent Dilfer by a DL for a TD, and...

We're now three weeks into the NFL season, and we've already seen our share of surprises. Denver (Denver!) has allowed 16 points all year. Houston is 0-2 at home, but won their only road game. Cincinnati beat the Steelers at home for the first time since 2001. As we look around the league, here's what some other teams are seeing: THINGS ARE LOOKING UP Detroit Lions, 1-2 Sure, they've only won one game....
