Rocky days for Trent Dilfer . Gone were the feel good months from the end of 1996 through the end of 1997. He started to show his true colors in the '98 season, and by '99 he was downright riot-worthy for the Bucs defense. Dilfer was benched after this game, in which he overthrew a wide open Warrick Dunn in the endzone. Fans Booed relentlessly, and Dungy pulled the plug.

Donnie Abraham could not catch up to the great Barry Sanders On This Day. View full size photo uploaded October 12, 2009 In the late 80's and early 90's Orange days, the Bucs would more than often have an opposing running back tear them up. Heck most of Barry Sanders highlight tapes are of him scooting through orange clad defenders. But this was 1997, a New Day in Tampa Bay! The Bucs had beaten Detroit...

Wherever he goes in Charlottesville, Anthony Poindexter is still remembered for his standout career as a Virginia safety from 1995 to 1998. Fans stop him to praise the famed play when he stood up Florida State running back Warrick Dunn at the goal line in 1995, finalizing a 33-28 win over the...

We were 3-0. The New Bucs! A new day in Tampa Bay. Pewter, sold out Tampa Stadium, and a national TV audience on TNT. Back then, TNT would get the first 8 Sunday Night games, and ESPN got the last 8 games. One day I need to upgrade my version of this game to get the last few minutes, where Ive heard Trent Dilfer points to Jimmy Johnson and takes a knee instead of piling on more points. The year before,...

Week two of the Pewter Pirates new uniformed season in 1997. After upsetting the 49ers , The Bucs traveled up to Detroit and Warrick Dunn ran all over the Silverdome. The annoying part of reliving this game is the announcer, who calls him WarWick Dunn, as in Dionne Warwick! He never caught the mistake! I cringe every time I watch this game. It was however, a coming out party for the New Bucs, who went...

The draft is on Sunday and I'll be sending out the league registration info today, so send me the names of your three keepers before Saturday midnight. You don't have to keep anyone, but three is the most you can keep. I'm leaning towards Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings and Clinton Portis myself, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Greenfield Grizzlies - (WB, let us know if you're in....) Bernard Berrian...

When was the last time the Bucs had a lightning quick, powerful, do-it-all running back in his prime? Say, Warrick Dunn 2000? It’s been a long time — until now. Joe is giddy that Derrick Ward looks like the same guy who averaged 5.6 yards a carry and caught 41 balls for the Giants last year. He’s already [...]

WR Deon Butler got free down the sidelines and ran under a beautifully thrown deep ball from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck during the morning practice. That's significant for two reasons: 1) Butler continues his strong play this past week. His legs are back beneath him, and it will be great to watch if he's going to make an impact in Saturday's exhibition game. 2) The deep ball has always been a knock...
