Last year, it was linebackers. This year, it's receivers. On what's the fourth blow to the pre-season wide receiver roster, the Bengals announced today that Marcus Maxwell will miss the entire 2008 season after it's believed that he " suffered a muscle injury Tuesday during practice ." Maxwell will likely clear waivers and land on the team's injury reserve. Chad Johnson banged his shoulder up and...

The problem with projecting Stacy Andrews the heir apparent to Willie Anderson is that Andrews isn't signed beyond this season. And with the going-rate of quality tackles in the league today, you have to believe that the Bengals may struggle to sign Andrews to a long-term deal -- which, in reality, they have been. It's not that the Bengals won't be able to afford it; rather they're interpretation...

Is Chick Ludwig inciting a story that T.J. Houshmandzadeh is sandbagging his injury, a subtle form of protesting his contract situation? Ludwig writes that his gut tells him that Houshmandzadeh is " sandbagging his hamstring 'injury' because he’s upset the club hasn’t renegotiated and extended his contract ." Ludwig continues after a Sunday night observation saying "Houshmandzadeh ran numerous 60-yard...

Even though Chris Perry was named the starting running back for the Bengals (if the season started this weekend), Rudi Johnson is still listed on the team's depth chart on Bengals.com. Coming into this season, I was big on Rudi Johnson's return. I had hoped his rigorous off-season training program, with renewed health, would reinvigorate this rushing offense. Instead, Rudi Johnson hasn't practiced...

What a scene at PBS Question: What changed in the last month Marvin? Marvin: "At the end of the day the owner has the final say and Mike wanted us to give him this opportunity" As for the fans reaction...."They can be frustrated all they want....it's a waste of time" Marvin spoke for about 4-minutes and left in a huff.....aggravated over having to explain any of it. Bengal Stripes is right: the move to sign Henry has minimal impact (other than the butt of jokes) and only benefits the team. The money is going to be limited and if he fails to his 54,262nd chance, then he's gone. It's either that, or having two injured receivers with several rookies and young receivers that the coaching staff just don't trust right now. Even though the Bengals signed him, National...

If you look into things, then you get the impression that Marvin Lewis had zero influence whether the Bengals signed Chris Henry or not. "The owner has the final say," Lewis said. "Mike has wanted to give Chris this opportunity and asked we do the best job we can to prepare him and get him ready to play. That's what he asked me to do, and that's what we're going to do." As much as we had hoped that...

Chad Johnson isn't expected to play anymore during the pre-season hoping that his shoulder heals quickly. Speculation is that the injury could be severe enough that he could miss the opening game this season -- though Marvin Lewis and Johnson are confident he'll be ready for Baltimore. T.J. Houshmandzadeh won't play Saturday against the New Orleans Saints with his hamstring injury. Which leaves us...

This is both shocking and yet unsurprising at the same time. After reading Lewis' comments earlier you can't help but be shocked that Henry is actually coming back. Yet hearing Mike Brown, and watching our offense struggle and take on injuries at that position, is it really surprising? The league is full of 'bad guys' I guess, at least Henry is 'our bad guy' seems to be the mindset. It's a slippery...

Sitting here wondering how I would angle the story, in my sapphire blue work chair listening to Rage Against the Machine, it occurred to me that I have three directions. I could basically state the facts and say Chris Henry is back with the Bengals, taking a leave of absence like I promised. I could question the front office's integrity, and call them out as liars. Or I could point out, whether you...

According to a story on ESPN.com, the Bengals have flown Chris Henry to Cincinnati to sign a contract tomorrow morning. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story'id=3541693 Chris Henry back in stripes - and not prison stripes, at that? According to ESPN, the Bengals will sign Henry tomorrow morning. Henry is suspended for the first four games of the season but, due to the latest spate of charges being...

The most noticeable injury Sunday night was Chad Johnson's shoulder injury, where he landed on his elbow and popped his shoulder out of socket. Marvin Lewis has already declared Johnson out for Saturday Night's contest hosting the New Orleans Saints, but Johnson is confident that he'll recover quickly. Alex Marvez points out that Chad Johnson's off-season character-suicide campaign may have hurt the...

Of the injuries that popped up Sunday Night against the Lions, Pat Sims could be the biggest interruption. With over 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Sims was carted off the field suffering a sprained foot and turf toe, leaving the locker room on crutches. This injury hurts the Bengals, a lot, if Sims can't recover by opening weekend. First and foremost, the issue is rotation. Jason Shirley...
