DETROIT – As expected of two teams that combined for one win entering Sunday, the St. Louis Rams and Detroit Lions played an awful football game. St. Louis, though, loved the outcome — for the first time all season. Steven Jackson's 25-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left lifted the Rams to a 17-10 win over Detroit, snapping their 17-game losing streak. The Rams (1-7) avoided matching their

It took Matthew Stafford all of five starts to get heckled by Detroit Lions "fans." And people wonder why they've been dying for a franchise quarterback in Detroit since Bobby Layne was chucking it around in the 1950s.

When the prime time football schedule was released months ago, it was easy to expect not to see the Bengals a part of it. With the season they had last year, why should NBC, ESPN and the NFL Network reward a team with only 4 wins by putting them on the schedule? Oh, wait; the Browns got 2 games on prime time this year with just 4 wins from last season. Oh, well. I wonder if ESPN and the NFL Network...

Kevin Smith returned to practice on Thursday, splitting No. 1 reps with Maurice Morris . Calvin Johnson also practiced again on Thursday. It appears both will be game-time decisions for Sunday's game, but if I had to make a prediction right now, I'd say that the Lions will have all of their offensive weapons against Seattle. A lawsuit against Dennis Northcutt that brought about some pretty serious...

While the Minnesota Vikings certainly impressed with a 38-26 win against Green Bay in Lambeau Field, the fall of the previously undefeated Denver Broncos has now left just two unbeaten teams remaining in the league. The Indianapolis Colts eeked past the San Francisco 49ers, 18-14, while the New Orleans Saints survived a late onside-kick and [...] Added by: egriffin Viewed: 1 time(s) Tags/Keywords:...

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Jim Schwartz doesn't want his Detroit Lions to play an overly conservative offense. Without Calvin Johnson, he doesn't think he has much of a choice. Even with a bye week to prepare and the return of rookie quarterback Matt Stafford, the Lions (1-6) couldn't move the ball consistently against the hapless St. Louis Rams on Sunday, losing 17-10 to a team that hadn't won a game
