According to Darren Urban, he received a text from Al Johnson that the team has released him but there's no official word from the team yet. The move should save the team some considerable cap space and it bodes well for the idea that Lyle Sendlein is the long term starting center. AJ was on IR so this won't affect the 53 man roster. Update: It's looking pretty official now with Kent Somers now confirming...

The Arizona Cardinals sent Al Johnson to the injured reserve , ending his season and thrusting Lyle Sendlein in the starting center job for good. The Cardinals also moved Pat Ross from the practice squad to the active roster and cut Oliver Celestin. That's some what of a surprising me because it leaves the team with only 52 players on the roster. They also cut Anthony Oakley from the practice squad...

Big Al Johnson has gone postal. No, not like that. He’s working for the US Postal Service. That doesn’t mean he’s not playing music though. Alan has a solid background as a fiddle player and bass singer, having toured with a number of bluegrass and country artists, including Doyle Lawson, BlueRidge, Larry Cordle, Lorrie Morgan, Pam [...]

Center Al Johnson had successful knee surgery on Friday and the team is hopeful he can return to the field by game 1 or two of the regular season. This injury leaves the Cardinals mighty thin at the Center position. Third string C Scott Peters also got hurt this week and is out for the [...]

Darren Urban updates the injury situation : Al Johnson had to have surgery to clean out his knee but they hope that he'll be back by the start of the regular season. Personally I wouldn't hold my breath on that one and I'd be pretty surprised if Lyle Sendlien isn't the starting center when the Niners come to town on September 7th. It'll be the second time this offseason that Big Al's knee has been...

In what can only be described as depressing news, Al Johnson is headed back to Phoenix today after missing the past two days of practice. He had fluid drained from his knee early in camp, after having off season surgery and it was orginally thought that he would only miss Monday's morning practice. Obviously things haven't gone as planned and he's left camp to get it checked out. A 'glass half empty'...

Here's a good party and a tribute to one of the toughest mailmen ever: The Al Johnson tele race in Crested Butte on March 23. Costumed participants climb 600 feet starting at Crested Butte's North Face lift, then ski down 1,200 feet of double-black terrain to the finish. I look like enough of a jackass on tele skis that I don't need a costume, but that's not the point here. From the Web site: "It should...
