Obviously, some of the problems the 3-5 San Diego Chargers have had this year stem from injuries. Tight end Antonio Gates was hit hard last season with a dislocated toe, so much so that it forced him to undergo surgery last February. It's taken awhile for him to recover from the procedure, but it seems Gates is again ready to take his rightful place as one of the NFL's top tight ends.

The Chargers have the next three days off, but Antonio Gates is already looking forward to the second half of the season. For most of the Chargers, the second half brings hope of a new beginning. For the tight end, it might as well be the beginning of a new season. “They haven't seen me yet this season,” Gates said of the Chargers' first eight opponents.
